749 Just .........dropped It !!

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Mikey G, Aug 27, 2015.

  1. Nearly dropped it with the wife on the back. <5mph and a car pulled across so late. Grabbed the front brake out of instinct but it stopped so sharp it went. It must have been 47-48 degrees and I managed to haul it up (wife still on) and pulled a lot of muscles. Agony

  2. Mmmmm, Dream Machine? not heard many good reports compared with some other places :Wideyed: Racepaint's of Nottingham worth a try

  3. Not had a bike painted before , but being an ex car painter I'm very fussy so any advice would be appreciate. Cheers Stu for the heads up on Dream Machine ...I'll look up your suggestion and go from there ...

  4. I'd recommend my mate but he's always too busy and takes ages - my Aprilia was done by Notts Racepaints before I bought it and is fab... don't know the guys but a friend has his Castrol SP1 touched up there and thought they were fab too (and he says they barter so don't take the first price);)

  8. Nearly dropped my recently acquired Fz1s in a car park opposite a cafe. Was so desperate to save it hitting the deck, tore my hamstring in catching it. Felt like I'd been shot in the back of the leg and friend had to help me walk to the cafe. Didn't give anyone eye contact.

  12. I love this paint job .... Am Soooooooo tempted.....

  13. I hope you've got better exhausts though. I had the termis when I had mine. It's the bike that showed me what good handling was. A front end like glue, on rails, with Velcro. Grinding the pegs down on clearways was the most lean angle I've ever got. Loved it.

  14. Would look fab I think - price seems very reasonable too. What did Dream Machine say?

  15. Not heard from them yet .....

  16. Dream machine not a place I'd take mine they seem to do more bad ones than good. Had a pedal bike sprayed by them long time ago and it didn't last long poor quality and top money

  17. mate, before you look to paint it, see if any good polishers are around your area?
I did the same and a mate polished them out. god knows how as I thought like yourself it would need respray?
    worth a punt

  18. Dropped 750 SS the night I finished rebuilding it, dropped other 750 SS when girlfriend hopped on back from wrong side without announcing. Got home tired on the same SS and forgot to lower stand before getting off... We're all human...

I've got some rearsets to put on my 749, haven't got around to it. If I get my finger out then I've got an OE brake lever available or you could save me the effort and buy the rearsets from me... they're new and never fitted, race shift config' :D

  19. You have to keep their mind on the job, I've had to return work for poor masking and linework before now. Sad as they were the "name" for a long while. Seems like they got lazy though.
