1200 Dear Jane..........

  1. Dear Jane* (2012 MTS 1200S Sport)

Look it's not you it's me OK.
    Yes, there is someone else.
I know, I know we've been together for nearly 5 years and had some fantastic times together.
It's true I did say you were the best ride I've ever had.
But I'm really sorry she just seems fresh & new and exciting whereas all my mates (on the Ducati forum) keep mentioning how you are going to seed a bit and I might have to keep putting you in the clinic.
Yes, I know I shouldn't listen to them but you must admit you have been winking at me with that lazy eye lately (dimly glowing indicator light).
And you don't always lock up at night.
It's true, you do scrub up very well compared to a lot of others your age.
You're right, you're right you've never let me down.
Like I said it's not you it's me.
We can still be friends can't we?

Seriously I've gone over to the other side and put a deposit on an S1000XR.
    A number of reasons really:
    - After nearly 5 years I just fancied a change.
    - I thought it would be a good time to part with the Multi while it still has reasonable residuals.
    - Despite having far fewer problems than many (3 fuel senders, blown fork seal under warranty and a broken gearchange return spring) I just started to have nagging doubts about keeping it too much longer exacerbated by some of the horror stories on here.
    - Having ridden a DVT it didn't engage me in the same way and the Beemer felt like it had taken over as the upright sports-bike for the hip replacement generation.
    - Having ridden an S1000XR I found it a bit buzzy and frantic but chatting to a mate who has one he has dropped 3 teeth on the rear sprocket and says it transforms it. Let's hope he's right :praying:

Hopefully I still qualify to hang around here as I still have my 916 and lurking around the S1000XR forums lately they are a bl**dy dull old place compared to here.

    * No, I don't actually give my bikes names!

  2. Will have few bits for sale when I've whipped them off

    DP carbon front mudguard
    Termi carbon stubby end can
    Ohlins SCU
    Givi smoked screen
    CNC flip up levers

  3. Good luck with the XR, got a hankering for one myself if the wallet would allow. [emoji106]

  4. Your wallet will allow it. It's your salary that won't :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

  5. No, the salary will more than allow, the wallet is what I call the wife. It's the holder of money. "The wallet" has it earmarked for a £200k house extension [emoji31]. I can get a fancy bike again, after the extension.

  6. A £200k home extension? You are Paul Pogba/Wayne Rooney/Christiano Ronaldo/David Beckham*. What do I win? :)

    *delete as appropriate

  7. I'l amend...

    My wife thinks she's: The Queen / J K Rowling / Oprah / Adele

I'm just waiting for the work to start so she relaxes a bit. I did get my built in garage though, will look nice with a shiny new bike in once the work is done.

  8. Seriously....a £200,000 extension?? WTF does that include? How much is your house worth now?

  9. Seriously! 2 storey wrap around (side and rear), with an extra 1 storey off the kitchen. Moving the staircase (and buying a new oak one) and therefore having to remove and redo all first floor joists.

Deposit also put down on a £30k kitchen.

She knows how to spend [emoji6]

  10. It'd be cheaper to divorce her.

Ps how big is your mortgage?
Pps what do you do for a living?
Ppps can you tell I'm seriously gob smacked? I thought I'd spent a fortune on replacing 30 plus Windows, 2 patio doors, 1 front door, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen in the past three years!

  12. The break up continues...............

I went in the garage this morning, she was there.
    It didn't go well.
There she was looking all doe eyed and lovely with her high cheekbones, waspish narrow waist, pert little rear end and voluptuos chest.
Not to mention her stylish Italian clothes.
I think she's doing it on purpose to make me feel worse than I already do.
Look there's no easy way to say this but that expensive jewelery I bought you (Termi can, Ohlins SCU, carbon front mudguard etc.) well I really need it back.
No, of course I'm not giving it to her it wouldn't fit anyway.
Oh you know it wouldn't fit because you've been chatting to your mates.
Yes it is that German I've been flirting with for a while.
They said she's a bit frumpy, lardy round the middle and not as stylish as you did they?
    Not to mention the squint!
Well if you are going to get nasty at least she shouldn't leave me in the lurch like your sister did JH_1986!
You've got to admit some of your family are a bit well ........highly strung.
Yeah I know I said those Germans were just for boring old farts but they've changed okay!
Look just let me get my stuff and go but we both need to start getting used to the idea that you have to move out.
Perhaps it would best if we just avoided each other for a few days.

  13. Don't blame her for what she didn't do, blame her sister for it.
And know that the Germans haven't changed, you changed :tearsofjoy:

Wish you all the luck with the Beamer and hope you don't need it. My friend owns XR and already hates it. Quality and service isn't much better with the Germans either...

  14. Hope you know what your doing sometimes better the devil you know

  15. Don't worry Ducbird & Schifi it's not a blind date!
We've spent some time together already - enough for me to think we'll get along OK.
I have one mate with an S1000R and another with an S1000XR they're both happy enough as well.

Been getting to know the new family (S1000XR forums) will let you know how it's going.
    Bet you can't wait!

  16. You've got nothing to worry about with the XR mate, I've got one and it's been a blast everytime I ride it.

Everything works and contrary to popular belief the dealer channel is extremely proficient and professional.

BMW ask for feedback after nearly every dealer contact so I presume all are aiming for great brand experience.

It's bloody fast which I'm sure you know, obviously more frantic but more 'superbike' than the multistrada.

Depending what you're after you'll either like that or hate it

  17. Getting to know the new family............

The German's not moving in for a few days yet and relations with me and Mutley are obviously a bit strained. So I thought I would pop over and start getting to know the new family (S1000XR.UK).
Oh dear - it was rather quiet and they seem a pretty dour bunch
So I formally introduced myself (like you do) but nobody really said much.
Not even one said "Welcome Dave" even though that's not actually my name!
I'll have a bit of a mingle and listen in on a few conversations I thought.
Well there is good news too - they weren't all constantly complaining about "issues in the family" :upyeah:
A few spilt drinks (leaky fuel lines) but that seemed about it.
Trouble is no-one was saying much at all, maybe they're all too busy riding round the world on their incredibly reliable precision engineered bikes to post on silly old internet forums?
Being German they've got another place too (I know what you're thinking but no it's not on the Algarve). This one's called S1000xrforum.com
So I popped in there too, bigger place but much the same really.
At least somebody was trying to lighten things up with a truly naff thread giving their bikes wacky & zany nicknames :Vomit: (but they were mostly American ;))
Jeez anyone would think they have real relationships with their bikes, you wouldn't get that on here now would you :Shamefullyembarrased:.
I haven't formally introduced myself to them yet because the thing is I know me and Mutley are splitting up but we've always got on pretty well haven't we? I don't know why but you lot seem more my type.
So is it OK if I still pop in?
Maybe I just need to get used to the new family?
