Hi all. I am after engine mounting nuts & bolts and spacers if used for 600ss and stem bolt for top yoke. Do other models bolts fit? Condition not important as long as thread is good and they are straight. Also after CDI/ECU for 600ss, was offered a 750ss one but dont no if this would work on 600. Thanks for looking.
All SSie and carby bolts are same, monster or any duc similar motor/frame/year will probably fit. Stem bolt on carb is hex, ie has holes for 'pin tool' but are interchangable, 2V monster use same also.
When you say Stem Bolt/Nut do you mean the top yolk nut, with the breather hose hole, if so good luck with that, ended up finding and getting mine from the US second hand, their like unicorn poo.
Yes thats the one, what do people do with nuts bolt when striping bikes feed them to unicorns, oh well the search is on then.
I would also like front and rear wheel spacers if any body has some for sale, or could any body take some measurements of thickness of theirs i'll get some made unless ducati sell them cheapo.
Do you mean the tubes that fit inside the wheel hubs? If so, be careful what you buy / acquire..........they are machined to suit the distance between the two bearing seats in a wheel.......I had one that was a bit too long which pushed the bearing off the seat allowing the out race to turn in the bearing housing........it made the housing go oval and effectively wrecked a wheel. Also, watch out for the correct I/D for the front one..............there are two axle diameters for the front wheel on carbed SSs. If you get them made, don't forget there is a flange / washer just off each end and also a notch in the end to assist bearing removal.
There aren't any spacers...........or not on the carbed SSs at least............. On one side of the front wheel, it is the 'head' of the axle, and on the the other side, there is a threaded top hat bush insert in the fork leg..........or if you like, a sort of nut.......as mentioned before, there are two axle sizes, so the bush has to match the thread, of course. The fork leg clamp bolts hold them tight, when the axle has been tightened. At the rear, the brake plate acts as a spacer on one side and on the sprocket side there is a conical washer (cone side towards the bearing).
Understand what you are saying, but the forks i have are 600ss bought as complete front end, one side of fork has a thread and the other side the axle is pushed threw, threw the wheel in to the threaded fork, there is no top hat bolt and there is no nut on axle as you have to use a axle tool to do it up, or a mail to female tool. i will go and take some pictures and post them, to me it looks like when you tighten up axle it will bend forks in ward. Thanks
I don't think you do understand.......Sorry. The thread in the left side, if you look harder, is the top hat bush......that's what I mean by a 'nut' as such. If you assemble the wheel and axle properly it won't bend the forks inwards........ You do the axle up first before you tighten the axle clamp bolts at the bottom of each fork........bounce the forks before you tighten the clamp bolts........ Don't forget you add the speedo drive on the left side.........which I am guessing you might not have..........in which case you will need the correct sized one to suit the axle and the wheel, because they aren't interchangeable. I can tell by looking at the speedo drive housing on the left side of the hub which axle you should need.........and which speedo drive you should have.
Correct I dont have speedo drive and on further investigation, and it is the speedo missing which must be a sizeable unit to fill the gap that is left. I'm still in conversation with the chap i bought the front end off, along with a load of other stuff, who is a forum member, I will ask if he still has the speedo. He is not far from where i live. Ill down load pictures i have taken, do you want one of axle on its own and view of housing on front wheel. Dont worry i do understand what you are saying. I have been around bikes all my life, road bikes, raced enduro, built and restored many, qualified as a motor bike mechanic at Merton collage London but have not done a lot with Ducati's. Its hard to explain things some times, gets lost in translation, even though your on the same page. Thanks for helping and being understanding
Just the speedo drive housing in the hub (show all the hub so I can see the brake disc locating ring which is around the edge of the housing).
Photos done will send more if needed. The axle is 250mm long, the gap from flat/straight edge of fork bottom to face of disc is 25 mm, if none of these are any good let me no and will send others if needed. uploaded two or three times some pictures, mistake dont no how to delete them. Just another quickie i might convert front end to twin disc will this change any thing ie size of speedo drive. also this is the first time i have come a cross a bike with no spacers on wheels. Every day a school day thanks for help.
From the pics it looks like the larger diameter axle wheel to me.................the brake disc locating 'ring' should be about 4mm max. thick/wide...........rather than 6mm approx for the thinner 17mm axle. Check the photo below....17mm axle on the left
Going to twin disc won't affect the speedo drive, but assuming the forks have the caliper mounting lugs, also make sure the wheel is compatible with having another disc fitted... ....ie, is there a brake disc locating ring in the hub casting both sides? There should be, but I have seen one single brake disc SS which only had a 'single sided' front wheel.......probably rare, but there could be more.
