I am wondering if my 08 1098 is over fuelling. It pops and bangs on overrun going down hills etc. I quite enjoy the sound though. Last week, one of my riding mates mentioned my bike smells rich when he is behind me so got me wondering if the fueling was out. It does take 2 or 3 attempts to fire from cold and smells of petrol from the exhaust in between attempts. Does this seem ok or do I have an issue? Anything I can check or is it a matter of getting it on a rolling road and set up? I have Zard cans and a recently fitted K&N air filter. Thanks!
as above, definitely unburnt fuel but much harder to diagnose these post-carb days as could be down to poor tuning and/or 'by design'.
What sort of money am I looking at for a dyno run? I have spent a bloody fortune on the bike this summer already....
andy only that much if he has it mapped as well, 30-40 is just for a couple of runs with no work involved
Yeah just been looking, £60 per hour seems the norm. I was wondering if a sensor had failed or something as I assumed the electronics read the emissions and rectified them to a point? Cookster, does your'e 1198 pop and fart on over run downhill?
Not over-fuelling. Your bike is running lean due to running open pipes with stock ECU. Get the DP ECU mapping at a minimum. Custom mapping is the ideal.
Thanks Chris, do you offer this type of mapping etc as I don't think you are too far from me? I am assuming the ECU needs re mapping ideally? Mapped to suit zard cans and k&n filter? It's witchcraft to me. Apologies for any ignorance.
@timberwolf it used to when i had the termi end cans and standard ecu, then fitted full system and race ecu and removed o2 sensors and doesnt do it as much but saying that its that fooking loud that i cant hear anything anyway!! :Banghead:
My 998 was like that up to last Thursday , it was popping and banging when slowing down so got it on a dyno and it was a fuelling problem , she was running lean . It was only on the dyno 5 mins and she was getting very hot so I got the ecu flashed and remapped and now she's running really nice and it cost me €350
