That's why i'm looking at the KTM SMT. Basically £7k and i've got £7139.88 remaining on the multi. I'll just carry on as I am effectively. Regarding insurance, I'll have to look at when mine ends but i'll probably be stung for an admin fee to change bikes. Got to pay to have my tracker swapped over too. :unamused:

JH I see your point - but its not BH fault either - any compensation should come from Ducati - not BH. Maybe BH can act on your behalf in this with Ducati - but that would be above and beyond their requirements. Numbers below are my guess. I would guess BH will say - OK original cost is £11,000 - you have done 12,000 miles at an average depreciation of £0.25 a mile - so say £3000 That way your motorcycle is worth - £8000 - your balance is £7000 so we will clear the debt - and refund £1000 of equity owing in bike. Or maybe - say the Book price of your bike with your mileage is £8200 - so we will refund you £1200. Either way I would not think they would pay you for pain and suffering and compensation - for something that is not their fault. - That would be something you would need to take up with Ducati. But as they are the Ducati Official Finance Company in UK - maybe they will go a bit further. Any way - however it goes - I am happy that it has worked out well for you (or better than it looked at the start of this) and no petrol and matches were needed...
What you have said, I would be happy with. They did however state that they could do other refunds such as travel expenses during the breakdown etc... I've made £400 worth of payments in the time the complaint has been handled. In all honesty, I'm just glad it's sorted and I'm not lumbered with a broken bike and £7k of debt. It's the missus that has it in her head we should get the lot back. I did tell her that's stupid but I got the "don't talk to me like a child" so I just shut up there. I'll bet that if they do offer any sort of goodwill compensation it'll be in the form of credits redeemable against parts or accessories for the next Ducati they'll be expecting you to buy...

I'v been following this thread and i'm very pleased things are working out in your favour within reason. What does frighten me is what would have happened if the bike had been purchased without finance!! Steve
That's why I am so disappointed with the dealer. Regardless of warranty, they should have been of more help. Especially given that they only did an engine rebuild due to a snapped cam 13 months prior. Had they offered to look at the problem and seen the broken crank, they then should have fought my case with Ducati. Anything would have been good, parts only and I do labour... ANYTHING! I'll be writing to them/Ducati after all of this is done. Like Gimlet said somewhere back there; it's not what problems arise, it is how they are dealt with. To not deal with them and expect a customer to just consider a machine a write off, is appalling. The other issue of poor residual value due to official dealers not wanting these problematic bikes, had Ducati done more to solve these problems initially then the value wouldn't be so diminished.
