I suppose I can accept poor rear view from the mirrors, even perhaps having my fingers trapped between the clip-ons and fairing on full lock, but why is it necessary to disconnect the double bango brake lines on the RH caliper before it can be removed!! Is it just my bike, or are all 1198s afflicted by this?
You don't need to remove the banjo, you just need to push the piston back into the calliper to allow the calliper to be tipped towards the outside of the wheel and it will come out, I usually put tape on the wheel to protect the paintwork. Hope this helps. Kev
Thanks Kev, Nelson & Robarnao. All done. I have replaced the stock pads with Bendix MRR, which is my pad of choice
I'll be taking the 1198s to Circuit de Folembray, France in early October to see how she compares with my other bikes at this circuit; a ZRX1200, Speed Triple 900 and Daytona Super III (now sold).
The 1198 will all make sense when you get on track. Not the easiest bike to ride fast, just grab it by the stuff of the neck and ride it like a boss.
Just out of interest, I may be wide of the mark, but looking at your username. Are you removing your calipers because you don't want to have any front brakes? :Watching: I think you may want to reconsider your decision if this is the reason. :Nailbiting: Your ride outs may become a bit lairy. :Wideyed:
