Been having a debate on the KTM forum about seat comfort on a particular bike. Went on a tour recently on my SMT and found the seat too uncomfortable for repeated day-long rides. Test rode an alternative yesterday and found the seat less comfortable on that than I remembered from the first time I rode that bike. I've also been getting more heat through the seat, on all my bikes, than usual. Then it occurred to me, I bought a set of Dainese textiles for that tour and I've never owned any before. I've always had leathers and oversuits. Does anyone else find that textiles cause comfort issues compared to leathers and if so are there any padded base layers that work?
Apparently, talking to the bloke at Helmet city, that's what a lot of people do. Dainese do make gel padded shorts but he said cycling shorts to the same job at half the price. Seems there is a comfort issue. They're not that pleasant in the rain either. I'm dry but it doesn't feel like it - clammy with the lining sticking to me. Looks like Merino base layers and bicycle grundies. Probably should have just bought Rukka..
