  1. Yes mate, I've been told I look huge on the thing, especially when not tucked in. However I feel fine on it!

  2. I've had both an 899 and now on the 1299 which is size wise the same as the 959.
12 is wider as per Simmytt's post but once your on it you don't think about it.
If your after an 8, you won't find a better looking than his, and for sale.

  5. Cheers for the pictures,

I don't think it looks that bad to me, that's is the 899 isn't it?

I guess side on it might look different but those pictures don't make it look overly small

  6. Yeh it looks a bit smaller there, but I reckon by the time the aero sides were added or at least a tinted double bubble screen it'd look ok.

Honestly, why can't Italians be bigger.....I blame milandri......just because

  7. No problem mate, I have a few side angles from a p*ss wet day at brands and yeah it's an 899.

  8. Looks more than ok to me, in fact I reckon the smallest it looks is head on because of how slim it is.

  9. It's a pretty tall bike to be fair bud

  10. Ok, so size wise it might just be ok.

Next up then is whether I should buy the 899 or the 959

    Pros for the 899 & 959:

899 Cheaper due to 2nd hand values
899 Exhuast far more aesthetically pleasing to me
959 More grunt and wider Fairing looks a bit better

    Cons:

    899 little or No warranty
    899 Old model
959 the exhaust will cost a bit to sort out

Having not really bothered keeping tabs on the panigales in terms of reliability, would any of you guys buy a 2nd hand 899?

I'd buy from a dealer so would presume at least 30 days warranty, but I'm not sure whether there's a long list of inherent problems (a la 1200 multistrada) to be concerned about?

  11. You've had some pretty powerful bikes, I'm not sure an 899 or 959 will offer you what you're used to, especially if an S1000RR is being considered.

Have you thought about a 1299? Might be better suited considering your previous 160bhp machines.

  12. The 959 is 157bhp and if you stick a different/better can on it you'll easily get that kind of power.

  13. :Hilarious:

  14. Get a late 899. Mines a 65 plate and still has over a years worth of warranty on it.

I've ridden a 959, and it doesn't feel any faster or more powerful than the 899. In fact it felt the same to me.

  15. That video shows the 899 was up 10bhp at 4500rpm.

    The 999 was up 20bhp at 7500rpm.

Quite interesting seeing how things are changing. The modern rev hungry V twin when compared to the 999.

  16. I have thought that, but to be honest the money required for the 1299 just isn't worth it for me.

If I was chasing the power, and therfore the speed, I'd probably put the money in a S1000rr and be done with it. You see I'd like to get more track days done on the new bike hence the decision to start looking at superbikes again, but I reckon the S1000rr would not only be faster, but easier in my hands on track.

Realistically I can pick up a 899 / 959 for circa £10k with up to 4000 ish miles, the same sort of money would also get me a mint 2012/13 S1000rr.

The 1299's I'd have to add at least another 3rd to that if not more which I just can't justify.

The Aprilia I'm trying tomorrow is a brilliant deal for a brand new bike, therfore worth the consideration and I still suspect plenty powerful enough at 170+ bhp.

The 899 / 959 gets me the look I like, hopefully the comfort / room I need and I'm sure with 150bhp it'll be there abouts....or at least I hope :)

  17. I'm more concerned with the reliability of the panigales as a second hand machine.

There's not many 2015 899's about 2nd hand via dealers, most are 2013/14 and out of manufacture warranty.

So As before, would any of you owners buy one without a long warranty?

  18. They seem to be pretty solid to me mate..

Having ridden loads of s1000rr's, you'll have more fun on the 899. Just my opinion ofcourse, but I'd be fairly confident of the fact.

I'd consider selling mine if you were interested, could perhaps sort something out via a dealer in terms of them getting a small middle mans cut to organise finance for you.

I've heard of it being done. Just something to throw in the mix. Mines mint.

  19. And what would you get instead?
