Just a quick question to anyone who has one fitted, how far can you move the bike without the ignition on before you receive a text alert ?
I believe you can set a "ring fence" around the bike to allow movement within a certain distance before getting an alert.
Not far!! Which is a good thing but as nelly states you can set up a fence to reduce false alarms, on the odd occasion I've forgot to switch the ignition on, the guys at the alarm centre have been great, it's a good system in my opinion
i have one fitted to my 1299 and i have moved approx 5 meters without ignition on with no alerts,i will check my settings.
It sometimes depends on the "signal" I've found that sometimes it has to re asess its location before it "knows where it is" especially if it's been in the garage, the reassuring thing is that it doesn't take much and it's fairly accurate
Could be,as its showing my bike is 15 houses down the road, its just that if i move my bike around on my property i do not get any alerts,i have checked my account and it is set up for movement,i will have to push it down the road to see when i get a notification.
I started taking the side panel off my bike not realising the unit was mounted on it. Moved it all of two or three inches and had a phone call!
I will give them a ring to see if they can do a system check as its not as sensitive as i would like, they are closed today :Banghead:.
I've forgotten about it a couple of times and moved the bike fairly short distances and never had a call. I don't recall the ring fence setting though. I'll check that out. It can be a pain turning it on to move it around the garage/driveway
I get calls when it's in for servicing at the dealers getting wheeled about. Less that 10 meters I expect
It's defiantly active as I can see a log of jorneys and all the right bits show up on my homepage, battery condition ect, I can set a perimeter but it appears to start at 100m and that's to far imo, that's assuming it means it will alert you if the bike moves more than 100m, will try to look into it in more depth.
Mine alerts me if took off center stand, it use to annoy the fuck out of me if I was oiling the chain which meant slightly rocking the bike a bit. It can have its sensitivity level took down by them but they don't really like informing people of this fact. A ring-fence can be established but it was a mininium 50 meters from memory. Good kit & well worth the extra benefits it covers, web browser tracking & top speed info et cetra which has been demonstrated by a semi-recent punter on here. Where a technican took ones pride & joy for a 130+mph hooning session, enabling said person too a gift/s from the dealer.
Does it have a vibration sensor as well as GPS? The ring fence will be for GPS, taking it off the stand likely to be vibration.
As far as I'm aware it's movement based on gps location data, they do incorporate a lean angle sensor also. It would be interesting to understand more though
Whilst it's mentioned on their own website that there is the accident detection if the bike is leant over at more that 80ยบ from vertical with the ignition on. Taking it off the stand is unlikely to be reliably picked up by GPS. Road Angel don't seem to publicise a specification. However, this web page does make mention of a motion sensor. If it's anything like the DIY fit tracker that I use the motion sensor can be enabled/disabled which might explain why some users don't get an alert when moving their bike around the garage.
When my forks were leaking, I put the bike upright off the side stand and bounced the forks a few times to see how bad they were. 30 secs later the phone rang... Bike was in the garage and didn't move a wheel.
Ring fence has to be quite large; GPS isn't accurate enough on its own to allow a smaller fence radius. My bike is apparently safe and sound, asleep in my neighbour's garage at the moment! I am just used to putting in the key and turning it on whenever I do anything to it at home. You have a short delay when turning a Panigale off before the bike really turns off the power and the tracker arms. On my bike its about 40 seconds, so you can move it during that period without issue.
I have moved it a bit in the garage, couple of feet here and there without it giving off an alarm. I thought the movement sensor needs to be constantly triggered for 20 sec before an alarm is triggered. I have washed the bike and oiled the chain without setting it off. You can turn off movement through the website to stop false alarms
