939 SP Well That Didn't Last Long

  1. Which dealer is this? Maybe this service manager needs some bad press his way to sort his customer service out.

Id be calling back every 30 minutes.

  2. This is correct. If you bought the bike on finance then the finance company technically own the bike and are obliged to take up the case on your behalf, just like anything over £50 you buy on a credit card.

It's also in their interest to do so, as ultimately they need to be able to sell the bike if it's reposesed for some reason. So don't take no for an answer!

  3. I finally got a call back from the owner AFTER FIVE HOURS!!

Might be because Ducati had contacted them though because he was very apologetic but they still don't know what's wrong with my bike. They are being sent the latest diagnostic software so tomorrow they can go online with Italy on the dyno. But I'd been told they were going to do this three weeks ago. I'm now promised a call before the end of the week to let me know how the dyno session goes.

I still don't see that I am ever going to have any faith in this bike again.

  4. Does this dealer have a dyno then? Surely somebody like BSD in Peterborough can map out the lambda sensors and get the bike running way better than it did before?

I realise you probably don't want that option as it costs money, but it'll ride so much better with a BSD map than Ducati could ever do.

  5. I think the suspicion is a failure somewhere rather than a simple mapping issue

  6. I think the hold up is that it is probably a 'Magnetti Marelli' issue not a 'Ducati' issue if you get what I mean...

Lots of companies buy in the electrical systems and other than plugging in the diagnostics havent got a clue what has gone wrong/can go wrong

  7. I called the finance company today. I have to leave it one week from today before I can start proceedings to reject the bike.

  8. Just don't tell the dealer :D

  9. Tomorrow is the big day. The dealer should have been on the dyno with Italy so will they now have a clear idea of what is wrong with my bike or will they just be scratching their heads and throwing parts at it like they are now?

  10. That's the real problem with all modern bikes, even the dealers mostly haven't got a clue how to fix them!

What hope will we have in a few years time? I guess the disposable or recyclable vehicle, which is only leased from the manufacturer, is just around the corner :tearsofjoy:

  11. Well first off, Debbie whatever her name was, the head of Ducati marketing in the U.K. Hasn't bothered to call me back. Thanks Ducati, you're such a great company!! I felt I should be honest and told the owner of the dealership that I'd called Ducati uk to make a complaint about the bike, but mentioned he shouldn't worry as she hadn't bothered to call me back after she'd promised to look into my case.

Secondly I called the dealer today to find out how the dyno session went. Italy gave them a lot of things to try most of which they had already done. There appears to be a anomaly from one of the sensors but they don't know which one. Previously I'd been told they'd checked ALL of the sensors and they were behaving correctly. I asked if they used a component test meter but apparently there are 'too many sensors' to try!! Really? On a two cylinder bike, I don't think so. Again I'm promised a call by the end of the day as they are hoping for some more software to try, so it looks like we're back to throwing parts at it.

I really can't believe that this has been going on since the 15th on July and it's now the 2nd of September!! In all this time the bike has been unusable if it's been in my possession at all. If I finally get to the end of this saga I have several other complaints about the dealer regarding what I consider to be appalling servicing practices. But one thing at a time, I'll save that one for another time. I'll probably write things out in a diary/timeline format and post on here and also send it to Ducati Italy, U.K., the dealer, trading standards and possibly the likes of mcn, not that I think they would publish it

  12. Ducati UK are pretty hopeless tbh. Their only goal, it appears to be, is to turn all the dealerships into grey clones of incredibly dull Audi showrooms.

  13. I think at this rate I'll have to locate Ducati uk and pay them a visit in person.

  14. Silverstone...

  15. Shame I'm not going to the MotoGP. I assume the public can access the area of silverstone where the headquarters is situated?

  16. Whatever you do... Take a go pro... Love to see some management squirm..

  17. Definitely not.
Ducati basically tell MCN what to say as they're into them for so much sponsorship-wise.

  18. Ok. Dealer owner called me as promised yesterday afternoon. Ducati UK are picking my bike up and taking it to their headquarters at silverstone. I'm promised if they can't fix it by Friday 9th September, then we sit down and discuss a replacement. If they can fix it we can talk about compensation but by Christ, I've already lost my arse on this bike, lost wages and bonus, lost the summer and lost faith in a manufacturer what should I be expecting from them, what are your thoughts?

  19. I will give the same advice I give everyone.... What do YOU want? If you want rid of it, tell them. If you really have lost faith, then why would you want it? If you're saying you've lost faith for bargaining with them, I doubt it will make any difference. If you can substantiate lost earnings, show them and ask for compensation.... You need to work out what you would be happy with before you go in there, and dig your heels in until you get it....

  20. If you were planning on keeping it then an extended warranty wouldn't go amiss on top of whatever they give you.....
