Mts1200 2013

  1. No, the "Anti dive" is just one of the "reactions" by the Skyhook suspension. Its not a singel function. But you still have the 4 modes to alter between. It will be stiffer in Sport vs Urban for example.

  2. 2012 or 2013 ?

Hi- I am in this category. I test rode both the standard and the S MTS 2012 models this past weekend, and now I'm trying to decide whether to purchase one of those, or wait for the standard 2013 ..... The standard 2012 and 2013 would be the same price (16k US), and the 2012 S would be 18k US (with the current promotion).

    Hmmmm.....

What would you do, and why?

  3. If you are buying "new" I'd wait, and try the MY13 before deciding which to buy. The decision is then based on what YOU think, and you can weigh up the new model against the old, and any discount you may get as a result... e.g. You may be able to afford a "discounted" MY12 "S" model instead of a standard MY13.

Choices choices, but I'd be keeping my options open at the moment. Dealers will find out this weekend when they will be getting their Demo bikes (in Milan), so you should be able to try the MY13 soon.

  4. When i spoke to the dealer a couple of weeks ago they said they were expecting new models in December

  5. Well I'm off to the bike show at the NEC next month guna have a good shufties around a 2013 Multistrada and take a few pics, I may even pick the promo girls brains and see what she thinks of it, before I ask the Ducati rep rofl. I hope there wearing lycra. (the promo girl not the rep)

  6. I've had touring model since Sept 2012 from Snells and had following recalls done:

    Ecu updates
    Key fob batteries
    Back brake servo etc
    New dash
    Coolant change

I've fitted HIDs to dipped and main beam (no problem with MoT 'cos test does not include headlight leveling for bikes) so bike now lights up road ahead perfectly. Also fitted Rizoma tail tidy and led indicators to replace crap wobbly OEM unit.

This is my first Duc from a GS. Im not a track day nutter nor a knee down officionado, rather a 50yr+ weekend and two week holiday rider that wants something that performs, is a bit different and can carry a load. I've ridden to Corsica and to Picos in Spain ad well as in the UK. It's an absolutely beautiful bike and always garners sighs of appreciation from French and Spanish passers by (my mate has a 600 GSR and he never even gets a nod, which infuriates him no end!) Riding around European roads knocks socks off a GS. The only thing I don't like us in traffic, in heat, when the rad fans kick in and blow hot air over your legs!

The new model is interesting but I think I need to wait for more substantial changes and as someone mentioned earlier - shaft drive is needed for a bike of this type. It seems that this is now the most competitive sector of the bike market and most manufacturers are fitting shaftdrive and I suspect is something in Ducatis case that is putting a lot of potential customers off.

  7. Oops sorry should have said I've had the bike from Sept 2010!

  8. Wait?:) But, this will require ...... what's the word?........patience on my part!
Okay. I will give it a go.

    ..... waiting......

  9. Well, it depends on what your heart desires! The MY13 should (?) be available for test rides soon (within a few weeks?), so personally I'd wait for that. Still plenty of time to then pick up an MY12 bargain if that is what you decide to go for. I think the MY13 has got to be worth a try at the very least, especially the version with "Skyhook".... Just my opinion.

  10. Personally I would go and hassle the dealer for a good deal. If you get a saving and a few goodies why wait for something that is reported to be a marginal improvement. I got a great deal on mine and am very pleased. Sure the new one has some nice LED lights and I prefer the silver colour. But I figure I'll run mine for a couple of years and wait for the next update if I feel like changing. But to be honest, the way I feel about the bike now is that only un reliability will make me change as I feel this is all the bike I need.

  11. Oooh, now....I'd strongly disagree with that. The key word is "reported". I think the majority of the press were just disappointed that there wasn't something "wow" on the new model. You have to look deep into the specs to see that there are actually loads of useful changes that have been made. There is plenty to suggest that for the majority of riders the new model will be far superior.

Anyway, opinions are what makes the world go round, and you are perfectly entitled to yours. I would agree though that unless YOU can feel the improvement/benefit of the new model, then yes, why not go for an MY12 with a big discount and loads of goodies. I completely agree with that.

However, in a few weeks, the new model should be here to try... and once it is here, the dealers will be even more desperate to shift the old stock! Of course, there may not be any old stock to shift, but that is the risk. I'd still wait.

ducati.girl... the choice is yours! ;-)

  12. I like the thumbs up/thank you button. Very useful. we don't have that button on our US ducati forum:)

Not sure if the dealers near me will haggle, but I'm going to do some "test haggling" and see what happens.

Correction to my earlier USD pricing. The 2012's currently 16.9K base model, 19.9K S model (minus 1200. promotion).
If the 2013's are going to be the same price, seems like there HAS to be some wiggle room on $$.

My primary goal is to get a bike that will last me 5 years + . I have had a 2008 Hyper for the last 3 years, and have put on over 32,000 miles (I got it from a dealership new in July 2009). It has been a strong, problem-free bike until I hit 30,000. At 30K, and for most of this last summer, the bike has been in the shop more than on the road.:( So, I figure it is time to trade-in and get something a bit more weather and tour worthy, but is still flickable and fun.

    :upyeah:

  13. Sounds like a plan. Any dealer will haggle when there is a new model sitting in the showroom and they have new versions of the old model! And yes, there will be lots of wiggle room on the $$ when the new bike actually lands... December is the date being bandied about. My dealer is in Milan this weekend, and says he will know then when his demo bike is coming, and all the details for the new bike. He hopes to call me on Wednesday. If you are looking at keeping the bike for 5 years, then I would be seriously consider trying the MY13 with Skyhook. It is apparently the same system as used on Maserati cars, and I also know that BMW's use it too (can't confirm it is the same Sachs unit, but the BMW HP4 does have the same Sachs units as the new Multi). In the car world, it has transformed the handling of some cars, and all the "normal rider" feedback I have heard has said that it is brilliant for most riders. The only caveat the dealer made, was that he preferred the Ohlins of the Panigale S Tricolre... yes, but seeing as that is better than the Multi S model with DES, that is unsurprising! ;-)

The point is, is Skyhook the same/as good as TOP quality race suspension? Possibly not, and not for the track. However, on a road bike, on the road, it is brilliant. His words, not mine. I will reserve judgement for when I try it myself, but oh boy I DO want to try it!

    Have fun haggling!

  14. Make sure you get a decent saving on a 2012 bike.

The trade-in difference between a 2012 bike and a 2013 model will be significant in a years' time.

  15. Being a girl you should know that patience is better and longer brings greater satisfaction;))

  16. I'm in the same boat, BUT that big 15000 mile service is looming and that's 850 quid apparently! So a part ex would avoid that at least...

  17. As soon as you trade and wheel your 2013 model out you will have lost more than your saved Service cost of £850 !!!..........not counting the £1000s your out in the trade up

  18. This month's BIKE magazine has a write up on the new model, not as exhaustive as Kevin Ash's though.
