Had a slight accident on the old Multistrada on Saturday. Bike was recovered and now my insurance co want to transfer it to Fourth Dimension Accident repair in Egham Surrey. Has anyone on here had any work done by this company and were you satisfied with it?. I nominated my own dealer for the repair but will have to pay all recovery and transfer costs. As I already have £500 excess to pay that will add up to a considerable amount. Any info will be most appreciated.
So the bike is somewhere but not at FDA-repair currently. And the insurance want to attribute cost for transfer too your nominated dealership. I'd demand the bikes location, visit it with your documentation & a van & do the job yourself. Although it might be worth finding out how much they are trying to charge for the transfer.
The insurance co will charge me directly for the recovery of my bike from the scene of the accident and also the transfer to my chosen repairer if I don't have what they are offering (Fourth Dimension). If I pick the bike up myself, a bit difficult with a broken shoulder, I would still be charged with the recovery from the accident.
Given your circumstances, it will be a lot less fuss and cheaper to just go with the flow. To be fair, the Insurance backed repair will usually come with a guarantee. Andy
I had a Bonneville repaired by 4th Dimension - my insurer wasn't interested in my request to have the bike taken to my local Triumph dealership. To be fair, 4th D appear to have done a decent job although their pricing was high. Ultimately this was not a concern as costs were covered by insurer, however, I think they did milk it a bit. Real concern is that they are not specialists in any particular manufacturer....or maybe that's a good thing?
