Hi, has anyone managed to source an alternative monokey top box to the Ducati offering? I'm aware that the official box is a Givi product, but can't seem to locate a base-frame to enable fitment. I've looked at the Givi site, and all the other usual places but just can't find one. Is it possible that Givi are restricted from sale of these MS items by Ducati?? I know the official version would be the easiest route, but I really can't seem to justify the very high price. I already have the Touring Pack panniers, but need something a little more convenient for commuting. Anyway, I'd be very grateful for any advice from other MS owners. Thanks.
I use their "Treker" (sp?) line for my top box. The smaller one fits my whole laptop case nicely for commuting. I think any of their monokey boxes fit the same mounts. I've got an old Givi-brand mount plate I attached to my stock rear rack that I like better than the factor version with the arm supports underneath. I know there's at last a couple of companies that make something similar. I'm using dynamics motors monokey topbox plates with Givi Trekker 52L Saved me USD400. I've seen the OEM one, the bracket is much sturdier (4 bolts support at the bottom of the tail) while dynamic motors one only using steel plate and clamp mounted on handrail. Watch out if you buying from Dynamics motors. They missed out the monokey mount kit in my shipment. They also sent me clamps with misaligned drill hole. Almost took them one month to sort this out. the bolts and screws quality is shit, so much rust after 2k km. Got them replaced with stainless steel ones. You pay what you get
Slightly puzzled why you would spend all that money on a 2015 strada dvt then complain a top box rack is too pricey? Have you looked at sw motech? by motorbike - DUCATI - Multistrada 1200 S - SW-MOTECH
i got altrider ali rack and a kappa box rack from german 70 quid 45 litre box italy 90 quid good saving
I didn't know one can actually just order the bracket kit from dealer and buy separate monokey box The OEM bracket design is very good. If you plan to carry heavy load, OEM bracket is the way to go.

I have a givi 52 litre box that fits straight onto the ducati rack , Ive used it on my previous bikes also. its just a standard monkey givi box
You can get your dealer to order the parts for the rack on it's own, there's a list on here somewhere of the parts you need. All the aftermarket racks I've seen lack the support bars which begs the question of how much weight they would actually take. They appear to be designed more for strapping a bag to than fitting a top box particularly a big one. The other thing to bear in mind is that the Ducati top box is shaped at the front which gives a little more space for a pillion, we found that a standard top box always left my wife leaning forward whereas the Ducati one isn't a problem. I know it's expensive but it might be worth it if any of the above is important to you. Chris
You know what Chris? I think, after much consideration and feedback, you're right. It just bugs me that the cost is so high. But I suppose, as you say, better to have the confidence that it's designed to fit. Thanks for the advice.
My bike came with the tour pack but I wanted a back box for the wife to be comfortable with when we tour and she is pillion. The price is expensive , in the end I went with the urban pack as it was better value for money. The tank bag is great as is the usb hub, as for the top box the wife loves it. I get more use out of the top box than the panniers so overall it's money well spent.
I kept my top box from my 'old' Multi and when I got the DVT I too ordered the Ducati rack for the DVT as parts and had that fitted. My old box fitted perfectly.... And as you say I needed the feeling that it was made and fit for purpose, as I use and load it a lot whilst touring and the odd commute to work with laptop etc. Think it worth it for the peace of mind.
Not sure how much the 'sum of the parts' would be but Moto Rapido happened to have a 'spare' rack and all the fittings lying around that I managed to pick up for £100 - my 6 year old Givi V46 fits on it perfectly
Sorry to jump in here [emoji1] I have recently joined the Ducati family and I'm too pondering over the top box for my daily commute to work. Once the Ducati rack is fitted are there any other plates/adapters needed or do the Givi top boxes fit straight on?
