Always thought that with buying new that if you re sell very soon after you loose that vat content at least .... whether it's got 1 mile on clock or 700 miles So £13k would be £2600 so takes it to £10400 Obviously extras and goodies alter price somewhat . I sold a Ktm 1290 super adventure last year .... 4 months old , 900 miles payed £16 k for it sold it for £13k . This is how it goes with buying new you always get a kick in the balls , but the person buying gets a good deal .....a bike like new for a good few grand off
Yeah, kinda figured that might be the case. I'm thinking I'd prob look at getting around £11k mark We'll see - I'm constantly trying to convince myself the bike will grow on me - I'm not gonna rush into anything I don't think.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Have you owned a vee / L twin before , they do seem a bit lumpy lump compared to your average inline 4 . I just like the low down torque they produce .... no need to scrag them .... well ...with the 1100 anyhow . I see what your on about like they are half finished regards the fuelling .... some of the standard mapping now on these euro 6 bikes are so bloody lean and being a L twin magnifies it even more , probably like comfy says an exhaust and a good mapping job would make it loads better ..... but yeah you should not have to do this shite but hey hoe .....that's the Italians for you .... as long as it looks good !! Jeremy Clarkson summed it up with some Ferrari thing ..... "It doesn't matter that the windscreen wipers foul your face , but aslong as it looks good "
No, not owned v/l twin before and my 1st Ducati. When I bought it/decided, I chose Ducati cos I thought it would be la creme de la creme - the Ferrari of bikes. Maybe my expectations were too high. Defo think they are over rated now I have one Yeah if I keep, I'll do the remap & exhaust but from initial contact with the guys who do remapping, dynojet haven't the software or hardware available yet for the 939 and Rexxer might/the garage is checking into it. This is info from BSD Peterborough and DWR Aylesbury. Exhaust wise - not a Termi - rip off, which leaves Akrapovic, Austin racing SC or Remus Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Apologies, it was A&M motorcycles who said Dynojet aren't upto speed yet on re maps for the 939. BSD said they might be able to do it but they not had a bike in yet to try Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
CJS at Bristol ..... up Comfys way , very good reviews . I have a 1200 Multistrada with termi and decat with a CJS tune on it ....it's loads better than the other two Multistradas I have had , but still the whole character of a big vee twin makes the engines ..... ' gruff ' and ' chudder ' They take a bit of getting used to .... I have lots of ktms and a few Ducatis , I wouldn't have any other engine configuration now ..... but different strokes for different blokes and all that .... there's a joke in there ....hehe
I'm in Bedford. Was looking closer to home really. But cheers - may have to if no one else can Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Very kind of you Sir! First thing is new tyre so off the bike goes to Ducati then I have to have a long hard think as to whether I keep Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And it's at this point I would offer some good old fashioned Yorkshire advice.............If in doubt, do nowt* *solves everything/works every time.
So true - been a fellow Yorkshire man I should know these things. Think being down south too long has affected me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I love my 939SP. I think the combination a your first V-twin combined with a slightly unusual choice in the Hypermotard have been the problem. For the record, the 939 low down fuelling is actually very good for a Ducati. The 1299 panigale is a lot worse, and my old 1098 was so bad it had be over 4000rpm to not kangaroo. I'm 2050 miles in now and it's the first bike is several years that I still get excited about going out on. I also have a street triple 675, and the the 939 tears it a new a55hole in terms of speed and power in twisties, similar horsepower but so much different, highlighting the V twin power delivery over the triple.
Time will tell. I'm not going to rush into a definite decision. I do actually want to like it believe it or not. I'm trying! As you say, the newness to the v twin and hypermotard style may just something I have to get my head around...we'll see.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I reckon if I'm not liking by 2000 miles then I probably never will..... 1280 to go... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I bought an 821 Hypermotard from Ducati Aylesbury. I wanted one to accompany my 1299 so I bought it. The first ride away, I was thinking 'oh no what have I done'. The bike felt like a toy, like i was 19 again on a dirt bike. Anyway I'd paid up already so it was too late. Having ridden sports bikes for 18 years this felt completely wrong. About 40 miles later things had changed. I'd started to find the correct riding style and it all worked out just fine. 6 months on, the 1299 has been traded in for the 939SP and the 821 is sold.
I hope that's the case with me and it is just a case of adapting - not so much the position/riding style (I've done mx and bikes of the off road variety before) more so the engine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think you might have not got the right bike for your riding. This is my second hyper and yes it's a niche bike, probably they sell more in Italy because it's cheaper than a Panigale. Ducati is two things sell on image and take it as is because they design them with compromises, this is how they have built the brand over the years. Mechanically absolutely true that there are better modern motorcycle engines and systems today, again Ducati remains making them like that yes like a tractor. Anyway, I do enjoy the hyper when I am pushing it on the mountain roads then all becomes clear, when I am kicking the ass of sport bikes on those roads. Plus it is a nice looking bike to go to work! Yes for the price and still mod it quite crap well that is why I got a BMW s1000r and for the price got a lot more for my money. But I must own a Ducati I like the imperfections and sexyness mixed. With SP on top I saved on black handlebars some carbon stuff which I always wanted to change on the 821...
