749 To Sell Or Not To Sell

  1. Soooo, the bike has really been pissing me off as most of you have probably read around the forum. So much so that I was hell bent on selling the POS. But something happened yesterday...... I rode it.

Bollocks, now I don't know, its so good. The peaky 749s v twin is sublime for the road, I have it set nicely for my handling preference.

    Arrrggghhh!

    Think I need two bikes.

  2. multistrada; a sports bike with all day riding potential.

  3. And reliability issues to match your old 749.

  4. I need 3 as one's always in bits because i can't help myself from fiddling and need 2 more in case one of them goes wrong.

    3 - it's the magic number, don't ya know.

Seriously - tricky for you. You've done so much you know her inside out and upside down and if you sell/buy you run the risk of having the same again. But, after letting you down so much I could see why you'd want shot. If finances permit, i'd buy a 2nd. 749 won't lose any value from here i'd have thought.

  5. buy a Honda... you won't love it(so won't make you want to sell the 749), but it'll be dependable and reliable and there for times when the 749 is playing up.

  7. I'll go with 3 too....its the ideal balance. keep the 749 you'll only regret getting rid at some time in the near future ;)

  8. So many bikes, so little time. Ask Exige, he's a lesson to us all.
Don't stop at 1. Get another but if finance is tight get an ST4,
you can tour on it and it's got a lovely 916 engine in it. Mines done nearly 50k...still good, innit.

Duc's, I just can't get passionate about any other bikes at the moment.

  12. I've got a multi for the everyday and the commute to work and a 999 for the track and occasional blast on the road. I was thinking of getting rid of the 999 and getting a pani but I do love the 999 and don't think I can part with her

  14. Bluey, I have a 748 (which I could not part with) and a 999. I have to say the 748 is a keeper for getting in the zone but the 999 is so much easier to drive and a very much more everyday kind of ride. Your answer is get another bike and save the 749 for when you need some man and machine time. The trick, however, is you have to regularly ride both which means using them for commuting as well as for leisure, that way you have the discovery and mastery repeated regularly through the year

  15. yep, I reckon you are right. I do use the 749s for everything as well as leisure, so maybe I need something mental in the garage ;)
