Connecting Alpinestars Jacket To Covec Jeans - Please Help.

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by MontyVIII, Sep 20, 2016.

  1. Hi everyone

I'm a rookie Monster 821 rider and recently bought an Alpinstars jacket, hoping i could Zip it to the rear of my Covec riding jeans (I use additional knee & hip armour). Anyway, the jacket has one side/length of the YKK zipper already attached at the bottom of the jacket (ready of the Alpinestars trousers), but I can't find anywhere online where I can buy the other part of the zip to have it sewn onto the jeans for connection.

    Any recommendations? All advice welcome!
    Thanks
    Monty

  2. The old lady at your local dry cleaners who does alterations/ haberdashery will supply a complete new zip and sew it in for you.

  3. As you mention I dont think Alpinestar supply the unused side of the Zip, but don't your trousers have it?

  4. Worth a try yes! Thanks !

  5. No they are not Alpinestar trousers. They are Bullit Covec jeans & no unused zips pre-attached...

  6. Shame, as said above normally you can take the spare side of the zip and get your Gran to replace the other zip on the other bit of clothing.

  7. My local leather repair man made me a zip converter to use an Hein Gericke jacket with Alpinestars trousers.

  8. My Alpinestars jacket came with the other half of the zip. You can buy YKK zips in lots of places. I bought a couple from a local sell everything shop called "Boyes"
I have sown half of each onto my Dianese leather bottoms

Dianese zips are the hard ones to find

  9. My local lady took my trousers apart to sew in the matching zip for my jacket and couldn't sew it back together. Gave me back a pile of leather.

    Had to find someone else.
