Had my right hand x-rayed for 3rd time, "come back in 3 weeks and no bike riding"......6th week off my bikes
Just got back from a little drive up the M1 to MR Bettes house... Managed to get lost on his showroom condition 998, despite only turning a couple corners, 20 corners later and I found my way back... That road back to the M62 looks fun, thought I was heading towards Scotland on my way home. Thanks for the test ride, etc...
Ran out of petrol on 999, had to push about 1 mile. Obviously had to push with helmet on to hide face. Very relived when starting first press with a tank full of gas. Took her to DWR Aylesbury to have valve clearances done and a dyno run.
Lovely, clean bike... looks like new. Handling very similar to mine with the damper fitted. I like my bike without the damper on but I want it fitted to avoid getting caught out so perhaps need to get use to it. The bike felt more grunty than mine low down but I did not open it up, brakes perhaps a bit better, but obviously lever position differences (might have given the illusion of sharper bite) my brakes are great on my 998, far better than the Fireblade. My 998 apparently makes 150+ hp (peak) so not sure how that has effected lower down power or the full extent of the work to the engine. If feels quicker than my Fireblade which is supposed to be similar HP at the wheels, until the Fireblade is going at warp speed.
Got home and got dogs fed, then onto garden, only got lawn half complete before it got dark. Seasons changed. Been a decent summer. Hey I'm still here.
Just finished packing my bag and now having a coffee before bimbling off to pick Carole up and heading to the airport for about 1 o'clock. Should land in Seville about 7pm local time, so allowing a bit of time to faff about getting the bags and hire car, we should be at the hotel in Jerez by 9 leaving plenty of time for a beer and a few tapas before bedtime. Bikes and kit arrive at the track today so got a lazy start in the morning with briefing at 9:30 and then 8 hours of track time to play with. Weather forecast looks warm and sunny - wahoo . Andy
Thanks DB, we are really, really looking forward to this, especially as we have a few days after the 2 days on track to explore the area and coincidentally it's festival time in Jerez, so there should fireworks and fun stuff as well. Andy
Just scored some free buffet in the kitchen at work....although theres 2 meetings going on and the other ones the biggie....eyes on the prize...
