DUCATI 748 749 916 996 998 999 CRANKCASE ENGINE PROTECTOR 1098 | eBay This is for older bikes, I think it should fit yours?
Moses I have a spare one, give me e day to look it up. Will send it to you for just the postage costs. If I can find the bastard.
Does the 748 case saver fit the Hypermotard 1100 ? Just emailed an eBay seller and he said he can't definitely say yes :/ Never seen them before but what a great idea Cheers
Not certain, I know there are some minor differences between some models, particularly the old 'small block' engines (600/750) being a tighter fit but you should be able to modify it to fit most bikes. I had to cut a notch out of the one for my Monster that wasn't required on the 916 due to a slight difference in the crankcase. Otherwise they're not too difficult to make.
As above the small block 600/750 needs a little trimming. I use to make lots of them a few years ago. I can still make a batch if there are enough ducatisti asking.....if I can make a batch of 20 the price will be £7,95 delivered on your doormat. To be honest if the bay is cheaper buy them there.... The 1100 will take the 748 crankcase saver, it al depends on the man that's does the crafting.... Cheers Nick.
FFS, you parted the red Sea and led the Israelites out of Egypt, but the simple act of googling "ducati john" and "ducati case saver" is beyond you? :flushed::flushed:
Moses never had a PC, but he was given a few tablets.... Mind you, he's probably still waiting for BT to connect him.
Case saver should be close enough to the chain to prevent it coming off and smooth enough for the chain to slide on. In the event of the chain breaking it then will (or should) guide the chain out the bottom of the sprocket area; Prevents the chain getting stuck in the void and the rest of it being shoved in at high speed; Ducatis seem particularly prone to this damage due to the shape of the void around the sprocket meaning a chain bunch-up is almost inevitable, with a hard chain being driven into soft alloy by 100hp+ (chains are normally going to break under extreme load/power) the damage to the engine can easily be enough to write-off an older bike. I imagine the whereabouts of the breakage has a bearing on the amount of damage, depending on how much chain gets rammed in there but it doesn't take much to break the crankcase and/or even bend the sprocket shaft. It appears the OP was very 'lucky' if the damage is confined to the side case only. Every Ducati should have one.
[emoji3] thx I need to see if we have some spare stainless steel to manufacture them. Keep you posted.
Checked our stock today and spoke to "the metal guy". And there is no play in producing any more. Sorry guys!
received mine from eBay yesterday, to be honest you could probably do the same with a pair of tin snips.
