  3. Watched a youboob vid. Looks good. Titanium fuel tank :Wideyed:

  4. Technology wise it's great, I'm fairly sure it'll be awesome round a track

  5. Looks a little 'stop me and buy one'

  6. Yay, big stickers....

  7. It's clearly missing a V-Twin engine with gear driven cams, and side mounted radiators. Not a proper SP-2.

I actually like the bold graphics, and it's fitted with some very trick components, but it's still fundamentally a 2008- Fireblade.

  8. It looks shite , It reminds me of those Chinese copies of Japanese bikes, like a hyosung

They have clearly forgotten they had an sp2 as a v twin by having a Sports Performance mk2 fireblade.

Honda lost their way around 2007 and have had little to write home about since then.

  9. I've just noticed that the limited run sp2, you know the one that is supposed to be their masterpiece and top money, has rubber brake hoses.... come on Honda... it doesn't matter that race teams will likely change it, that's not the point as they will change all the fork internals also. I just think the japanese are really struggling to build anything stylish and well finished with the exception of the new R1

  10. Yarp....like the GSXR they had the chance to change but they didnt.....I guessing McGuiness will get one of these for the TT - that'll really be the test....

Im a convert...7 years ago when i got back on a bike after a 12 year hiatus (renovating houses, getting married and having kids etc etc) i wouldnt have even looked at a european bike (especially a duc) but currently sitting in my garage is a hypermotard, an rsv4 factory a ktm 525 supermoto and a z1ooo and the only reason i got the zed is that at the time sf's were too highly priced for what they were...a great bike but at 9k (at the time) for a 6 year old bike my near brand new gen4 zed was too good to pass up at 7.8k...for a then 3 month old 64 plate.

From what i can see while theres enough catchphrase fodder for the magazines for the next 3 years the japs are playing it safe as it were...i predict a fast bikes "if youve got a 2016 rsv4 then its shit...you need one of the 2017 ones....now thats where its at..." - last years cutting edge hardware will suddenly be transformed into a "scaffold bar with wheels" to quote one of Al Fagans descriptions of a previous year's Panigale models...

  11. Yep, agreed. All this shows just how special the R1M is IMHO... I think I would have one over a Panigale 1299s just because it's a little rarer and I think on par. Not that the 1299 isn't incredible! And I love my 899.

All in all I think the only bike out there I want is a new Thruxton R, it's left a big impression on me

  12. Heh - thats where we're all different....Triumph imo is going backwards....their stuff is getting older and older in all aspects....dunno what it is but triumph is one bike manufacturer that ill never own.....cant put my finger on it....

  13. Certainly agree with you about the Triumphs
Don't like them at all , not even the Thruxton

    new blade looks quite nice

  14. Yeah - its almost like youre paying more to get less...The only Triumph i would remotely consider is the speed triple r....and even then when i had the chance of one a couple of years back i didnt, didnt even bother test riding one as something said...no...dont...

Sorry - getting off topic....Fireblade...yes, i think McGuiness (and the TT course) is the one to show what it can do...next years racing will be a bit more competitive also....BSB WSBK etc etc..

  15. I honestly think the Fireblade will outsell the other litre bikes by quite a bit, however that's based on its performance in the showrooms now which is impressive given its age. The reason is that u can buy one for £9500 and that's just such a lot of bike. When it goes up into the 12-13k mark it may be more tricky but we will see. Those forged wheels are a thing of beauty

  16. Looks good to me. Be interesting to see how much the SP models will be over the base bike.

  17. Not feeling it...

  18. @Furyous got it right..... a fireblade is a balistic inline-4, An sp-1,2 is a v-twin, why have they resurected a great name on the wrong bike............ i guess sales, kwak have the new zx10rr, gixer have the most powerful gixer yet, ducati have the panigale and yam have the R1M, no-one will move brand to the latest blade, but calling it a sp1 will at least get heads turned to see whats its all really about.... followed by dissapointment when they find it missing the engine....i reckon its Honda running out of ideas.....
best bike of intermot so far IMO zx10rr, enough changes to call it a worth while upgrade......
