I've recently been given a service award at work and have given some Amazon vouchers . I really fancy a Go Pro camera and was wondering if anybody has one. Where and how do you mount it to the bike? I know there are some bespoke mounts, but am I right in thinking that they have to be stuck to the fairing? which is something I'm less than keep about :frown:. Any advise is as always, greatly received
1000% worth the money. They come with an assortment of flat mounts, curved mounts and one suction mount. The flat and curved mounts have very strong 3M adhesive strips and the suction mount uses physics and shit to keep it stuck. The suction mounts are very strong, stick them on the side of a 500mph aircraft and they don't move a mm. Best HD action camera available IMO.
I've got a GoPro2 they've just released the 3 so you might want to look at that. Plenty of mounts you can buy handlebar, rollbar, plus suction cup and you'll also have various stick on kits with the camera, the glue doesn't budge
I've got a dogcam mini HD dvr bullet camera - bit more fiddly to mount but much smaller than a go-pro and excellent results...
I got one of these Veho Present: The Gumball 3000 Muvi HD £120 with more mounts than you'll ever need. Ok its not quite on a par with Gopro but for the amount of times I have actually used it £120 is neither here nor there when the Gopro Motorsport ones are £250 to begin with.
I haven't got my own one, but a mate who I ride with has got one. He attaches it to the bike or to his lid using the mounts that came with the camera. Even stuck to the top of his head whilst riding in the rain it stayed secure. The quality of film is incredible! He mounted the camera facing rear wards whilst I followed him, and got some great footage I think that some of the Felix-who-sky-dived-from-Space footage was done using Go Pro.
I have a gopro hd hero and also a hd hero 2. Both are excellent cameras and have purchased an assortment of extras such as the chest harness. I have took these all over the world with me and recorded on my bike, in the car. On roller coasters and diving. So versatile. If your going to the USA or know anyone else who is going then get the from there. Uk price around £300. USA price is $300 so about two thirds of the price.
Ie got one. Used it 3 times now in total. And 1 of them was at IOM. Too scared of mr plod pulling me over and wanting to see the film. Ive got loads of memory cards , LCD screen and full Motorsport kit if anyone wants to buy it
Another vote for the GoPro, and they come with waterproof housings, great for the pool & beach on hols. Amazing picture too.
I got mine from Scan they dont have them anymore but dabs.com has 1 in stock at £93 plus the dreaded so be quick
I just used the sticky pad mounts it came with one in on the top yoke and the rear one it on the chain guard. This one is with the suction mount that again came with it!! BTW I found 720p is better than 1080p, I have only used it a hand full of times so with more trail and error better mounting points will be found but for just over £100 one cant grumble.
i had the go pro hd motorsports 980 , it came with a helmet harness, chest harness ( special offer on this ), various other fixings , waterproof housing, used mine on my enduro bike & scuba diving and was very hardy and robust, also got mine from USA as mentioned before but had to pay import tax of about £28 if i recall but saved about £150 in all, came from ebay uk, good bit of kit, sold mine last week to another green laner for around same as i paid for it : ) and he still paid half what they cost in uk , hope this helps, kev
I haven't tried the suction mount, but will give it a go. One thing I have found is that if mounted too close to the engine I get wobble from the rolling shutter.
I have a Gopro Hero 2 and think its great. Loads of ways to mount it, the suction cup works well and has never come off even at speed. Have a curved mount fixed to my Arai just held on by a 3M sticky pad again never moved. 1080p HD recording for well over an hour on 1 battery and large memeory card. Used it to film lots of stuff in the Alps this year.
Go Pro, top kit Anyone had misting issues with the Go Pro when in the waterproof mount ? If so have you found a workaround
