Ducati Panigale Track Noise Levels Thread

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by Monners, Jun 15, 2016.

  1. I expect Silverstone are taking a similar stance to MSV by only allowing ride-by testing on standard exhausts? I am there on Thursday, but expect I should pass the 105dB static test anyway (fingers crossed) if they do test me.

  2. I'll update with Cadwell testing in a couple of weeks. The 899 is actually marked 108db @ 5350rpm on the VIN plate but I've got an email from MSV saying drive by test if on standard exhaust and static fail.

  3. Not sure if this has been mentioned but I spoke to MSVT about this and the exact response I got was that you'll be fine with the standard exhaust, however the Termi pipes are banned.

  4. I did get on track with my termi's in June but measured 103.2db on a 105 day so it was tight

  5. At Silverstone GP on 25th Aug there were 1199's a-plenty with Termis (some without baffles). It was a 105dB static/102dB drive by day, and they only static tested the fast group.

  6. No problems at brands last night.

They did say in the briefing that from this year, if you get black flagged for noise, you now only get one chance to rectify. They operate a two black flag max.

  7. Did you pass the static?

  8. Nope. 105.

However no issues getting out to play. Ran in fast group with no black flags.

  9. I'm toying with putting the standard cans back on!!!! Is the evening a 102db?

  10. Yeah 102 and 92 flyby

No worries at all. Was a few panigale's running around (standard cans)

  11. Had the 1199R tested at Silverstone Monday - not sure what it read but passed a 105db static at 5500RPM.

    Full termi's with baffles.

  12. I got myself a set of stock cans off ebay so might stick them on just to do some Brands Hatch sessions.

  13. Measured 104 static at Cadwell. 899 with standard exhaust.

  14. I've updated the first post. Has anyone else had the 959 with stock cans noise tested ?

  15. well I gave up and put a deposit down yesterday on an 899 with a stock exhaust. I wasn't sure after reading about the noise problems on track but this thread helped me decide. So hope she passes noise testing or ive just spent a lot on a road only bike!

  16. When I was at Oulton 2 lads had 959's with standard cans and I can't remember exact figure but was under 100db. 98db possibly

  17. That seems incredibly quiet?

  18. Having heard one id say they're a fair bit quieter

  19. I've heard they are 101db which isn't exactly quiet but quieter than the 899. At least if u think about the measurement, it's half meter back from the exhaust exit which is now right at the back of the bike, which takes the meter way further away from the engine mechanical noise and up high as opposed to on the floor.
