the majority of the country didn't vote for a tory version of brexit. hence all the debate. do keep up.

Ineos Grangemouth site contributes 4% of Scottish GDP and makes up approximately 8% of Scotland's manufacturing base. But despite the hydrocarbon wealth of the region imports shale gas from the US? I'm sure if the majority were asked if they would care to stop using their cars and consider life with a substantial reduction in truck, air and shipping movements, they'd say bring it on.

 

i think they have been asked and often. if i mind right during the initial consultation quite literally 99% of those that responded didn't want it yet the tory government went on to approve (several days after the indi reff) the scotgove stopped fraking through a moratorium using our devolved planing powers. that in this case is what the vast vast majority want.

 

holly shit,, cant help but wonder what goes on in folks minds,,,,, what possible connection do you think there is in the use of " cars ,trucks ,shipping " etc and imported shale gas ,, for those who do not know,, but still like to have their say, the shale gas goes into making plastics !!! ,, but hey,, dont let that get in the way of your argument...

 

er, plastics? One of Scotland's biggest companies (petrochemical) and employers has resorted to importing shale gas to power its plant (one of the largest energy consumers in the UK). Rather than import it, the UK is sat on it's own. So the naysayers who say no to local shale are happy to see it imported. The implication is "they" benefit from the petrochemical output, including the fuels. Are we there? :

 

plenty more oil and gas under the sea. the futures green, thats where we need to invest. not going against the wishes of the majority is the correct thing to do.

 

not quite sure where you are, but if you go putting shale gas anywhere near your car you will not be going anywhere... ( i suspect the " majority " of the locals are well aware of that )

 

So on the subject of shale gas then the majority view is wrong and should be steam rollered by the Government? Mmmmm. Anyone anyone got a black kettle that the pot could call its own?

 

:weary: It's a question of energy and where it comes from. Import it or use your own. Ineos produce petrol and diesel among many other things at Grangemouth - hence the size and importance to the region's economy.

 

Then stop using the dirty energy and go green. And stop riding yur bikes?

Btw who says the 'majority' are against it? Think you will find only those who's gardens are being dug up are campaigning or are you and Finm now the voices of the masses too?

 

Fracking is short term gain for a few but a long term disaster in the making for all.

 

And I meant in Scotland they are against it. And stopped it. And rightly so.
