1299 Des Dynamic Default On 1299s

  1. It has been a few weeks of getting used to the 1299s, so now it is time to fiddle....

I have been, and will be, leaving the suspension in the Dynamic mode, but noticed for each of the Race/Sport/wet modes for the forks/shock/steering damper you can choose between:

    Softest
    Softer
    Default
    Harder
    Hardest

Currently, everything in every mode is set to default, but I cannot work out if default is different in each setting? If it is the same in each mode, then I would have expected Ducati to set Race to harder/hardest and wet to softer/softest. Has anyone had a play around? For the time being I have set Race to Harder and wet to softer, but haven't had a chance to go play.....

  2. Similar to the setting options on the DVT and I'm led to believe that the defaults differ in each option i.e. Race suspension setting will harder than the sport default setting, but infinitely customisable in each

  3. If you turn the dynamic mode off, the prefixed (fixed) settings are different in each mode, but I'm not convinced the "default" in dynamic would be different. My thinking is that a fixed number in the other settings (abs/dtc) is the same no matter what mode you are in. e.g. ABS 1 is the same 1 whatever mode you are in, so why would the dynamic suspension references change?

  4. It definitely changes for the default settings between each mode. The Project Manager was explaining Ducatis thinking at Silverstone on the demo days and their logic was that people get brain f**ked by seeing a load of numbers so they decided to do the harder/softer thing.

I believe you have the three modes which are configured each with a differently base setting similar to the 1199S for reference; ie generally stiffer for the Race mode, softer for rain mode. The active system is event based and reads info from the sensors such as brake pressure, IMU for lean and pitch so it intervenes differently for things like hard braking, long sweeping corners, normal acceleration, etc. For example on hard braking it would stiffen things up. The harder/softer settings change how much it changes the settings for these events.

I'm guessing that the default settings when the system is not intervening, or when active suspension is turned off are similar to the 1199S :

    Race
    Front compression 6
    Front rebound 7
    Rear compression 9
    Rear rebound 11
    Sport
    Front compression 18
    Front rebound 12
    Rear compression 24
    Rear rebound 16
    Wet
    Front compression 28
    Front rebound 18
    Rear compression 28
    Rear rebound 18

  5. If that is what they said it must be true. To me that just isn't logical though, because what a value means in the other settings doesn't change between settings, so this shouldn't to remain consistent...

  7. That would make sense (Royals descroption) as the previous skyhook had a large range of numbers and the factory default for the 4 modes were all different as a starting point. So I'm assuming (for eample) default for Touring maybe say 14/25 and hardest 20/25 where sport would be 16/25 and 25/25 respectively.

    Imho the numbers were better.

  8. .... or make the same description available in each so you can see how it differs between modes... or even a mention in the manual... however, it really is only a small problem! :sunglasses:

  9. The numbers were defo better. While its great for sizing up project componants, comparing bigger/smaller (softer/harder) isnt as good as 50% max, 75% max
