  1. You are Valentino Rossi. What do I win? :)

  2. Now, you see the fuel range is one of the things that slightly puts me off the 1299, I do a fair few miles on weekends away with the lads, my 899 has 11,300 miles on it in exactly 2 years now and I think the 899 has a pretty good range for a sports bike, even then, I'm one of the first to start pointing at my tank cos the fuel light has come on, shortly followed up by " oscillating hand gestures" from my mates cos they don't want to stop !! so a 90 mile range would be a right p.i.t.a. to me.

I think I need a test ride to be totally seduced and throw all sensible reasoning out of the window !!

  3. does not look the same, the big'un has a single sided swing arm.

  4. I once got 124 miles from a tank on my 1299. Commuting everyday on it I never get past 100 miles before the second light (3L left) comes on. First light (5L) usually about 88/89 miles. Thrashing it expect it to come on even sooner.

1299 in my experience handles better than the 899. Better feeling from the front and the rear (non - existent on 899 rear oem). The 959 is closer to the 1299 in feedback than it is to the 899.

The 1299 suspension has more control front and back during the rebound stroke of the suspension. A feeling that gets better with miles.

As mentioned brake pads don't last long but just get some of these which I'll be using again as I prefer the feel over OEM (and the price) - Ducati 1299 Panigale: Achey Brakey Parts

I'm not just saying this but after some niggles and being a bit temperamental I'm head over heels in love with my 1299 again. I think it's just sensitive to atmospheric conditions and doesn't like hot days. Now it's autumn the bike just feels fucking brilliant everytime I swing a leg over.

Oh and Supercorsas are fine in the wet. The electronics are good on this thing.

Oh and remember all 1299 and 1299s will be getting the Evo software loaded at services or PDI by Xmas. I have had that 100% confirmed.

  5. i dont like the look of he SS,, are they the same length,, is it poss to swap,, has anyone ever ?

  6. True. But not enough for me to change my vote.

  7. fair enough. and apparently I can't spell "does".

  8. you WANT to put a twin sided swing arm from a 899 on a 1299???????????????

  9. I'm not sure I agree:
    1. I'll give you this one!
    2. I'm not sure I agree, and I'm also not sure if that makes any difference. In theory that could be an argument against, because you're stressing the smaller bike more.
    3. Single sided swingarm is my biggest argument against this. Brake calipers noticeably nicer. Better exhaust. TFT screen.... the most obvious visual differences.
    4. Would you marry a not quite perfect woman so a better one could come along?! Besides, Ducati will bring something better and faster out, so move to that when it is released...

  10. I've seen a SS on an 899. Apparently they bolt straight on and the only thing you need to change are the rear brake pipe (moves to the other side) and obviously the wheel.

  11. so i guess if you can put the SS on the 899 then a double sided ( proper :grinning: ) one can go on the 1199 ( unfor not in position to consider 1299 £ )

  12. well er no,, not exactly,, what i wondered was double sided 899 onto 1199 ( it maybe poss )

  13. I guess, but why not just go the whole hog and put a 999 grey swing arm on a 916?

  14. thats up to you mate,, if you want .

  15. When you say PDI's or services, do you mean that older 1299 panigales (2015 example) can have the newer evo software loaded to the bike during a service or dealer visit?

  16. Yes. This is also what I have been told.

  17. Have you by any chance done some digging on exactly what the upgrade brings mate?

  18. To be honest, they update the software all of the time and you never know. This was specifically just an upgrade to the traction control. If you read the Anniversario DTC Evo write up you will get some idea, but essentially it is supposed to allow more slip.

  19. From Ducati -

Ducati Traction Control EVO (DTC EVO)

Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO is an advanced system that monitors and maintains control over slipping of the rear tyre and operates on the basis of eight different levels of intervention, each of which has been programmed to respond to a different tolerance to rear slipping. Each Riding Mode is assigned a preset level of activation, which can then be modified according to the riders' desire.
Level 8 corresponds to an activation of the system with the slightest slipping, while Level 1, best used by expert riders and professionals, has a higher tolerance and thus allows a much higher amount of slip before intervening.

  20. Thanks for that.

Although I'm still not sure why they'd announce it as an updated system if there were no more sensors involved.

I mean if it's purely software algorithms that could easily flash to the existing system, why would they make such a big deal about it?

I bet it's going to require extra sensors or something, seems a little too good to be true that it'll flash to existing 1299's..... Which considering I'm likely to buy a used one is a bit of a pain but no Deal breaker
