  1. I may have completely misunderstood what my dealer told me, but I think customers are getting a private unveiling of the back hence the lack of info and pictures??

Must admit having to put down a 20% deposit for something I haven't even seen a picture of is far from ideal!!

  2. You had to do the same with the MK1 and that was almost £11K at the time.

  3. Well at least Ducati are consistent with their oddball way of doing things lol.

Has anyone else on here placed an order?

  4. My dealer said the deposit has to be paid directly to Ducati (as per the SL1). I'm awaiting further instructions - and info. from Ducati !

  5. There will be a private viewing in Bologna for those interested. I think the full unveiling will be at EICMA.

  6. so basically : value of 996R+998R+999R+1098R+ bit of change = new something which no one knows anything about . hmm... not for me i think

  7. did not have to pay deposit for my bike SL Mk1
Get on well with my dealer so was not a problem

  8. As flyer47 said it's not the dealer wanting the deposit it's Ducati wanting it as soon as they accept your order. My dealer is superb and only put down £500 deposit for the Anniversario. Ducati basically want all 500 deposits up front before the SL goes into production.

  9. when 2 dealers rang me about the Anniversario again never had to put any deposit down did not want the bike as i have ducatis coming out of my ears lol could not see the point as i new they were bringing out this bike.
And if I'm being honest not sure i will even buy this bike already dumped 9k on my SL 500 miles lol
So if people get stuck trying to get this bike I've been offered 2 of them and if i don't them there will be 2 but I'm sure people won't have a problem getting this bike anyway

  10. Must admit I'm getting slightly wobbly about this now. The reaction on here seems pretty poor which is also slightly worrying. I'm still going through with it as regardless of people say it's going to be a special bike to own no doubt about it.

@trevorhavoc when you say you've been offered 2 does that mean by two different dealers? Again, my dealer called me about it and asked am I interested and do I want one, but he isn't 100% sure he can get me the bike as it's invitation from Ducati. Just wish Ducati weren't so cloak and dagger about these things.

  11. I'd be going for it if I had the money to spare. 220bhp and weighing next to nothing is going to be absolutely stunning even before you get into the looks of the thing. I also think that it's the perfect time as Ducati have got to the peak of development of the Panigale now and it's good enough to be winning everything so they can do £66k worth of justice to the new bike!

  12. I'm sure it'll be a mega bike.

I wouldn't pay that kind of money for one personally but depends on what you're in to.

I'm the kind of person that would buy a bike run it in then hammer it around the track no matter what it was.

It'd also have mega mileage on it once I was done probably.

I'm not in to garage queens.

  13. Thats my bar as well; I buy what I can afford to ride hard and keep in good condition. I can do that with the R but would not be able to manage it with the 1408, or at least I'm not able to justify it to myself.
I have wondered if it could work as a company investment though, I guess thats what a lot of people do with these type of things?

  14. Probably, which is a shame.

But let's face it, the majority of the kind of people who buy these bikes 'probably' will hardly ever ride them. And the ones that do will probably turn up to a track day and get humped by a dude on an r6 which has been dropped more times than they've polished their panigale.

Kind of makes me wonder what's the point? Butttttt I guess if I had loads and loads of dough I'd probably look at it differently.

  15. I've got no problem in riding it so long as I can insure the bloody thing!! I do alright for myself, but still 66k is a shit load of money to me and don't want my arse handed to me should I sell it and you can guarantee people will be wanting these with very limited mileage covered second hand.

My Anniversario is work of art, but certainly no garage queen and take it out every opportunity I get....would be even more if wasn't for the missus :rage:

  16. The current SL is great, although I've not ridden mine since June. Whilst there are a few things that I could change, if money wasn't the issue the list is endless and when do you stop? Whilst the offers on the new 1 are interesting, the option of 'an experience money can't buy' is a big cost most owners of the new SL2 will take in their stride

  17. I didn't like the drip feed with the first one, I'm disappointed they've chosen to do it again.

Depositors should be shown the bloody thing when the not insignificant amount required is paid.

Release titbits to the general public as you see fit, but treat your loyal customers in a manner more becoming of a £60k+ non-essential luxury purchase.

  18. I hope the head of VAG went through his old contacts list, picked up his phone and sang down the line.... " Hey Mr Massimo Tamburinie man, come design a new bike for me"

Cause the latest bikes ain't pretty enough... Get the Akros or Termis up under the saddle where God likes em...
