939 SP Abba Stand

  1. I'm considering getting an abba stand for use on my hydraulic bike lift, but they don't list a fit net for 939 sp, does anyone on here use one and if so, which fitting kit did you use?

  2. I emailed them - here's the reply:

    Hi,

We have a fitting kit that is correct for the swing arm pivot of the 939
Hyper, however to use the stand you will need to fold and tie up the rider
foot rest as otherwise the stand will fail these in operation.

If you want to purchase the kit please select the Ducati "Monster 1100" kit
(any year) form our drop down list, this is exactly what you require.

Please let me know if you need any more information.

I bought said kit, but not overly impressed, unlike the ones I've had on my z750 and STR. You have to get it exactly lined up and they don't seem too steady. I put mine up on the stand thinking all was good only to see the bike lop sided - the metal adapter wasn't on the swingarm pivot bolt, it had slipped and was held up by the frame recess. Don't think I'll use in future. Shame really as thier stuff is top drawer.

  3. Didn't need to tie up foot pegs either as doing so actually put them in the way

  4. Cheers for the info. I think I'll pass then. Shame as like you say, their products are usually very good

  5. Prob best to wait to see if they make an actual kit fit the 939.
The swingarm pivot bolt is too shallow to fit in the adapters. There's not enough meat - leaving it dangerously vulnerable

  6. Is swinging arm bolt allen head on hyper?

  7. HI I use an Abba stand with my 2015 Hyper 821. Looking at the parts catalogue I do not see any difference between the 821 and the 939 as fas as the swing arm attachment is concerned. The stand works fine with the adapter kit for the Hyper which Abba sell. I will try to ale a sketch for you as I don't have any pics that will help and I will not be home until around 4 November. I will see what I can do tonight and post it for you.

I am a bit surprised about Abba's response as they were very helpful when I bought my stand last year. Will get back to you as soon as I can.

    Cheers

    Gandalf

PS. As far as I know the swing arm bolt is a hex head bolt with concave head - at least in the 821 it is

  8. Yes, same bolt on the 939, however the head is too shallow for the Abba adapters to hold the bike effectively . They fit but there's only like a couple of mm of metal actually going inside the adapter. [IMG]

  10. I make my own adaptors from sockets. These are for 999. Spark plug socket filed down in a pillar drill fits the side with bolt head. Cut down allen key, lead soldered into appropriate socket and then soldered into spare abba adaptor for other side. image.jpg

  11. I use the swing arm removal kit on all my bikes. But you do need to take pegs off.

  12. Here's a pic of the swing arm bolt on my 2015 hypermotard 821 From what I can see it is the same as the 939.

I bought the stand and the adapters for the hypermotard 796/820/1100 (2015) as recommended by the folks at Abba and it works well. I have even climbed onto the bike with it lifted on the stand.

Getting the adapters properly into the recesses for the swing arm bolt holes takes a bit of practice and patience the first few times but in my opinion it is perfectly safe and secure. I have no issues working on the bike.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers!
