What sort of return have people been getting on the Superleggera or Desmo after three - six years? and how about with a few thousand miles on the clock and used on track?? Is it actually an investment or a money pit.
I can't speak for the SL1, but Desmo's are being advertised on ebay and autotrader for well in excess of their original sale price. Most have mileage between 100 to 5000, price being asked between around 37k to 60k... a slight loss or healthly return depending on how you look at it: Inflation/servicing/fun or riding & owning... The price of anything is determined by how much someone is prepared to pay for it - most of those bikes have been for sale for a while! I doubt most people buy these bike as speculation, aimed at the wrong buyer for that.
you would have to be off your tits on something to be depositing anything you dont know something about, is there that many gulible people out there looking for a bike
Thanks but I've been there seen it and done it with Ducati before, and guess what I'm coming back for more. Either I'm a tit (debatable) or they (Ducati) are doing something right. FWIW I just sold my 800mile Superleggera for £44k a day before I could have sold it for £45k (

Some people have the spare cash to do these things (sadly i am not one) but i wouldn't begrudge anyone if they wanted to. Just imagine being able to ride a completely carbon 220 bhp Ducati missile that weights sweet FA on a racetrack. Awesome stuff.

I bought my SL1 to ride the tits off it. If I do go for (and get) an SL2, I'll do the same. For me, it's not an investment. Having said that, I could keep it a few years, have a great deal of fun with it and sell it for not that much of a financial loss. The money I do lose is more than offset by the pleasure I'll have had out of it and you can't put a price on that.
When I look at that, it looks like it's more likely a 1299 update, not a SL update, but it's mainly the cat making me think that. Will the SL have to adhere to euro 4 regulations or will the build numbers be small enough to not have to bother?

Yeah I was just wondering. Through a company would be without the VAT and knocking ~25% each year depreciation This is what I was getting at. What sort of depreciation are you expecting after using it properly for say three years? It's almost definitely too much for me whilst looking at racing the S and tracking the R but I'm interested in doing the man maths all the same to see how close to justifying it I am.
