Insuring A Panigale???

  1. Hi guys,

Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent insurance company (does such a thing exist?). I'm trying to insure a 1299S and getting nowhere apart from mental quotes. Ducati insurance want £2k.

I've managed to get it down to £655 with MCE through go compare but I can't get the link to work on the email and when I try MCE direct they quote £689.

If anyone can help I'd be grateful.

  2. Use comparison sites

I'm with bennetts at the mo, seem okay

  3. That's who my existing policy is with. I thought they were ok until today. Tried to get the policy swapped to the Panigale and the policy provider AXA wouldn't quote. They had to open a new policy and the quote was crazy.
I asked to cancel the policy that I opened 2 months ago with them for the Harley that cost £109 and refund me. I've been refunded £30 for 10 months policy. They've taken £50 admin fee.

I hate insurance companies with a passion...

  4. Go skippy here. Think my 899's circa £300/yr

Avoid mce like the plague, theyre an horrible gang of rats.

  5. Unfortunately MCE are the only ones that are offering a realistic quote

  6. Ring Ducati Insurance & ask them to price match. You normally have to jump through a couple of hoops & it's refererred to the underwriter.
Come good for me the past few years.

    Hope you get sorted.

  7. Do you have a tracker fitted?
A BikeTrac is £300 plus £90 per year subscription, but it could pay for itself in the first year.
Worth considering if not already, as it may mean more companies will cover you.

  8. I got a quote off them online mate and it was £2k

  9. GoSkippy won't even quote mate

  10. I'd need to be getting quoted £300 a year for the tracker to be cost effective and I can't see that happening. To be honest I don't want a tracker on the bike. If the bike gets stolen I'd rather not get it back.

  11. I would ride my bike off a cliff and on fire before I would EVER touch MCE again. Be warned.

  12. ....unfortunately that is part of why the quotes are so high. Bike theft is a massive problem at the minute. The more trackers we collectively have installed, the more people get shut down, the less bikes that go missing, the less excuse insurers have to screw us.

  13. Yep, pay taxes for policing, police ain't interested, crime rises, insurance premiums go up, taxpayer bummed. Vicious circle.

  14. Before I would use MCE, i would remove my number plate and be prepared to evade the Police if I were unfortunate enough to be requested to stop. Keep the bike in the kitchen and shove the keys under the rottweiler/misses, delete where appropriate.
Insuring with MCE is akin to joining ISIS.

  15. Ducati Insurance were the cheapest to insure my 959 after 5 years without a bike (so zero ncd). Upgraded to the 1299s 5 months later and they only charged me another £140 for the rest of the year, which was all pretty reasonable. I did have to call them and wait a day for the underwriters to agree a price though....

  16. 1199s Tricolore, £230 fully comp, protected no claims with wicked quotes.

    0 points
    0 claims
    6 year NCB (I think)
    43 (looks 26)
    4k miles P/A
    Locked in a garage
    No tracker
    No alarm

  17. Just looking at renewing mine and wicked quotes are coming up cheapest and with a lower excess......

  18. One of my mates put me on to Adrian Flux, who then passed me on to some agent that in turn put me onto Bemoto.
I have to admit, their customer service is spot on.
Managed to get their titanium package that includes as many Euro trips up to 90 days a year on it, full Euro RAC cover, kit, legal the whole lot for £550. I'm happy with that, plus they know bikes as well and were nice to deal with.

  19. While I was on to Bemoto he was asking what else I have. He quoted me £100 for the R1 which is £40 less than this year and said he can do me a cheap deal on the other R1 and my track bike. Sounds like a decent company actually. They can do track insurance as well
