So what have you done today..?

  1. just finished reading a history of motor racing.
When India gained independence in 1947 Ghandi and Nehru decided to hold a marathon race to celebrate..

They invited applications from athletes and received 8 million entries.

Too many they said. They sent another application stipulating that entrants needed to have had a Testicle removed.

They still received 750,000 applications. "We'll have to be more strict" they decided. Invitations went out and only athletes with NO Testicles were invited to enter.

This time they got only 500 entrants. "Great" said Nehru, "thats more manageable. What shall we call the race?"

Ghandi said "What about the India Knackerless 500"

  2. Just heard on the news that the government are to take 1p off Petrol.

I don't think "Etrol" has the same ring to it, though.

It'll always be Petrol, to me

  3. Early birthday present from my mum.

Picked up a few service parts for 999 from Moto Rapido. The 1098R there is lovely. Really nice bunch more of chaps too. Offered to help me out with 999 valves dilemma but they are just too far away...

  4. Pulled my cement mixer gearbox apart and fucked it. :Sour:

  6. Off to see Aussie Pink Floyd in Manc

  7. Tinkered with some suspenders trying to get things handling like they should. Decided against replacing the air box as I'm doing this all in my father in laws back garden with only my basic tool kit.

Hate not being at home and can't wait for extension to be over.

  8. Had a great day at Yas Marina Circuit doing some boundary riding ... Preparing for the F1 at the end of the month. Shame I had to ride a scooter and not a Ducati :)

  9. That's a long way to travel from your market town of Drayton. Hope you enjoy your visit.

  10. Went out with SimonT and followed him on his test ride (Hypermotard 821) and said Ducati sales rep....weather was a bit shitty (trying to rain but didn't quite). One thing I will say is that the 821 is quicker that I thought....

  11. Just back from a couple of days in Exeter visiting our daughter. Very depressing about the fire in the Royal Clarence Hotel (we had a fabulous afternoon tea there last summer). Big thank you to the firefighters and the other emergency services.
It does seem slightly bizarre that a major fire in a major city didn't make the BBC news last night, but they had a story about Typhoo tea going up in price???

  12. Well this morning I did around 90 miles around west and South Yorkshire on the Scrambler which was nice.

This afternoon we've had our two grandsons (4yo & 2yo) so we took them to a farm to see and feed the animals for a couple of hours. They loved it :)

We then took them to pizza express for tea, and the pair of them scoffed three courses!

Back at their house now as #1 son and wife are out on date night. So we've just bathed the kids, they've brushed their teeth, put their pyjamas on, read them a story and now they're in bed. Thank Goodness.

I'm knackered now and will undoubtedly need a sleep before our son and daughter in law get home as we've got an hours drive home around midnight.

Tomorrow we've got tickets to see Jimmy Carr :upyeah:

  13. Dropped the second set of 1098R wheels off for refurb with Image Design Custom. Brand new set of Metzeler Racetech RRs (treaded version) in the dining room ready and waiting. Andy

  14. This afternoon I went to see Billy Elliott the musical in Bristol. 3 hour show, exceptionally well done and thoroughly recommended if you get a chance to se it near you.

It take some choreography to have a miners/police riot on stage at exactly the same time as a girls ballet class. Musical, poignant , funny and entertaining. Go see it. The children are brilliant.

  15. Each to his own on that one.... I think I'd rather stick a fork in my leg for 3 hours rather than watch a musical. I did see the kid being interviewed on the local news the other night and I've gotta say about 10 seconds after his mouth opened I wanted to shut it with a bat. . . . Dunno what it is about singy dancy jazz hand kids but they always seem so fucking full of themselves/smug/above everyone else . . . Not advocating violence against kids at all but y'know how some people's voices go right through you. . . . :)

  16. Saw it a few years ago in London Town, it was a local lad playing billy, I was surprised how much I thoroughly enjoyed it, since then I'm a theatre convert

  17. Not that far.... only about 55 miles, I drive 40,000 miles a year in my job so a walk in the park really. Concert was absolutely amazing, probably the best so far and I've seen me every year for the past 6 years!

  18. Trying to think why I deleted my post doh!

  19. Waiting impatiently for eBay winning bidder to cough up.......

  20. Re sealed the puncture in Carole's rear tyre by replacing a rubber mushroom the refused point blank to seal properly with sticky string which has sealed perfectly. Getting ready for a blat but can't make my mind up to either take the 1098R out one last time before it gets stripped and prepared for the track next year or have a hoon on the Multistrada. Both have their attractions, decisions, decisions. Andy
