I just have Termi slip on's along with the up map. Mr C, be interested to see the results of the dyno run, do you have the bypass plug for the rapid bike?
What are the options available for the 1299 exhaust wise? Akra full/slip on system, Termi slip on (looks much better, probably best looking exhaust I've seen for the 1299) and the SC project exhaust (looks terrible) Oh think I seen a terrible looking Arrow system too? I seen something on the US site I think about modifying the standard exhausts but they were still in development and looked a bit botched to be honest. I think the guy was trying to source a better welder to weld up the cans after removing the cats if I'm right?
My 1299 cans after my expert welder had worked his magic, the outside visible welds are all but invisible . Just for the record the cats were a complete c**t to get out.
Those look great. What differences did you see after removing the cats, would you recommend it? Would you welder do them for anyone (obviously for a price)? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
1299 system + Removal of the cats + sprint filter + RB all add up to make a difference, I cant say if de-cat alone would make a difference, but they are restrictive. My welder might do it bit he wont remove the cats it would be up to you to do the hard part
Well I've pretty much made my mind up that I'll be going down the Rapid Bike and Sprint filter route. Im just undecided on the exhausts at the moment. I really fancy a set of forward exit carbon Termis, to me they're by far the best looking exhaust for the panigale. £1400 is a bit steep for a set of cams though. I could be tempted to try gutting the standard cans first but I'd still end up buying the Termis probably
Mr C, I've just picked up some standard cans on eBay. Did you do a write up on the cat removal? Any tips for removing them? Going to have a go at removing them myself
Todays Dyno run, couldnt get an Air/fuel reading as the probe wouldn't go far enough up my exhaust :tearsofjoy: A healthy 177.98
Cut using a grinder or dremel with a 1mm cutting disc and you will also need a hacksaw blade for the hard to reach parts. You get the idea In effect cutting the front of the cans off so you can the attack the cats head on, I have added a pic of 1199 cans that I had previously opened and the 1299 isn't to dissimilar inside. What you want to achieve The cats are a nightmare to get out, go round the edge with a hammer, screw and thing you can utilise and heaps of brute force and ignorance
Thanks for that mate, much appreciated. I'm going to give this a go when I'm home. Once I'm happy with it I'll give you a shout and see if your welder would be up for putting them back together?
I had a look on the rapidbike site and couldn't really find a lot about how it might integrate with the electronics already on the bike. My understanding is that it controls the injectors, but I'm interested to know how that works with what the ECU is trying to do with respect to DTC/EBC/DWC... would it lose/adjust that message and lose it a little in the interface?... (I may be barking up completely the wrong tree, but I just couldn't find any information)
I'd be interested in this too. Had really thought about it effecting the electronics as such, just the fuelling I thought?
But if the electronics are adjusting the fueling and so is the rapidbike kit?... which wins the fight? As I said, I may be barking up the wrong tree, however experience has told me to be suspicious when something isn't mentioned. I'd like to know how they interact, because I like the idea of Rapid bike rather than flashing the ECU (I.e. REXXER), because a reflash prevents Ducati from upgrading the software (for example to the EVO software on the Anniversario/1299SL that has been promised). So if the electronics still behave as Ducati intends and Rapidbike refines that message, I'm interested....
