899 Why Doesn't My 899 Feel Faster?

  1. all the modes were set the same except wet. What I didn't think about was taking a few mins to change race set up, then go back to touring to get out then flip into race again. Although I would have had to work out how too...

  2. Google would have been your friend!

  5. The camshaft profile on the Panigales is mainly responsible for the difference. Pre-Panigale Ducatis have a broad spread of loads of torque - so you get that big 'shove' at virtually any RPM, whereas the Panigale camshaft profile was designed to make the motor more 'friendly' and streetable at lower RPMs and less intimidating for people coming from 4cyl bikes all to broaden the appeal of the bike ie more sales.

The Panigales aren't as fast in the lower RPMs as older Ducatis of the same capacity.

Comparing a 4cyl 1000 to a Ducati 899 isn't a good comparison, you'd be better off viewing the 899 as, say, a 750cc bike if you're trying to do that. As for comparing an 899 to a 1299... the 1299 is almost 50% bigger in engine capacity so isn't a good comparison either I'm afraid.
