Winter hack F800gs; 1200 enduro won't be seeing much of this winter unless its a dry cold day only. Ridden every winter since going legal on two-wheels, had plenty of off's with the beemer. Black ice, diesel & thick snowy roads plus the odd stall. I'm not going to risk the duke until I've got all the bits-n-bobs I've planned to do completed. And with the continual delay of my race-exhaust now reaching six months my patients with ducati-uk is drawing in. I will moan like a trooper if it goes past this winter & its of course fully paid for.
Yes I do, but only two or three hours a week. Used to commute all year round on a Gixxer so I'm quite used to it. I also use the bike to get into town and get free parking when all I'm after is a coffee or an ice cream.
I second the gsxr thou, got mine for trackdays and commuting when its not icy or pissing it down.. fab bikes and hold up quite well, still take the garage queen out when it;s sunny though, quiet roads on the weekend for a change raying:
Have a lil Chinese scooter for winter leave the 749 in the garage unless its sunny... i dont care is the scooter gets slid or stuff cuz theyre that cheap to run i could rebuild it for £2.99 lmao
All the same to me, just wear proper clothing. A day is a day winter or summer, any excuse to go out riding.!!
It makes you question why we have to keep our bikes pristine and not just ride in all weathers. I saw a guy on a 1939 Triumph the other day, oily rag rules and it's all original from the day it was born. I have a Honda cb750 K4 and I'm wondering whether I should just let it get old gracefully, or do it up to showroom condition. Some like the part worn look, some don't. I used to ride in all weathers with some WD40 !
As long as it's dry I'm out - can't see the point in wrapping it up for winter, it's best ridden. Been out 3 times this week already & enjoyed every second
i tend to leave the panigale at home and use the DRZ400Sm during the winter - how ever i have been chopping and changing between both - but i have a scrambler on the way for my winter bike and will sell the drz400sm soon
1939 Triumph will be built from proper steel, cast iron with a bit of Ali for the crankcase and spent it's life covered in oil and grease which will have leaked/oozed out from new, it will probably still be going when our modern machines have long been forgotten and discarded. Honda 750? Soak it in oil and keep it away from the damp and it will go on a good while yet but I bet it won't see it's 70th birthday, sad but I fear true.
I commute all year round, I still have to get to work even though it's winter First Ducati, be interested to see how the bike copes with the water, salt, crap, etc.... Any advice appreciated, recently heard of ACF50 but never used it before etc.. Have commuted in some proper bastard conditions, snow ice slush grit etc.., but luckily only 7 miles each way in town, so just go slow be ready etc. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Bloody hell.... Get ready to replace anything with a screw thread on it.. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
You have obviously not had a Honda then. This one is 41 years old and still going strong. I sometimes wonder why people speak before their brains kick in !
