  1. went into dealer were I'm getting my hypermotard sp from and they was pushing a 1098 into workshop. Wow, dealer says it's my personal bike, don't use it,it's done 4000 mile, has the termi cans on etc,it's having a full service, new belts on etc,you can have it for 5k if you want it. Some one please talk me out of the buying that ASWELL not instead of hyper lol.

  2. That sounds a very good price

  3. Don't buy a 1098... the engines are time bombs and the main bearings all go.... that's a total exaggeration but if it helps?

  6. He bought it to track but never did,it's been sat in showroom under cover for 18months,so it's having everything changed, belts, fluids, pads, tyres, the lot,he's going to put it up for 6 but if I want it I can have it for 5 for quick sale, and I can leave it at showroom till spring then mrs doesn't kill me lol,bad enough when I bought the hyper

  8. I think I'd be struggling not to buy it.

  9. Buy it for £5k, sell it for £6k, then buy the missus something nice. She will soon grow to like bikes!

  10. Not entirely an exaggeration. There is an issue on some bikes. May be the earlier ones. Ducati introduced a new type of main bearing when they brought out the 1098 which proved weaker than the type they had used for years in earlier engines. I had my 1098 Streetfighter blue-printed by Rich Lewellyn and he told me the 1098 bearings were poor and he was expecting to find the weaker new type fitted and had recommended in advance that they should be changed. But when they split the crank cases they found Ducati had reverted to the old type. Whether they changed them on the 1098 SBK as well from 2010 onwards, I don't know..

  12. 1098 SF had an 1198 bottom end and 1098 top end, only bike that did as far as I know.
