As do I although I'm fairly sure I can't afford it, having said that I bet it ain't £72k either Although I'm sure a Brexit doom monger will say that it will be
After seeing the damage a 5mph crash can do to a carbon wheel I'm not convinced that, even tho I REALLY want a carbon bike (wheels, frame, swingarm, tank) that I would have one.
Well over £24k I reckon as my S1000RR owes me £18k once you add in the basic upgrades which everyone goes for. They did a Tyco special edition which is much the same as mine but with the akro can and paint job and that goes for £21,250. Carbon fairings have to be a few grand extra and I guess it has the full system which is another couple of grand. BMW unveils Tyco Racing BSB road replica | MCN
Pound to a pinch of sh*t, the same company that manufactured the HP2 carbon frame is the same one who made the Superleggera air box. Andy
So, you are thinking BMW will sell a bike for the price of a nearly new M series? Wasn't the HP4 about 18k ish?
I remember reading this over a year ago and I always thought that BMW produce and develop their own carbon BMW developing carbon fibre frames | MCN So do Bmw make Ducati parts?
If it were me looking to place an order for a Superleggara 2......I'd put the order on hold for now. I appreciate everyone has different tastes, but if you're going to drop £72k of 'look at me money' on a super light carbon bike you'd best make sure it's the daddy. I can just see bmw wheeling out 220bhp and a lighter bike whilst being a good £20,000+ cheaper Looks aside, you could 'possibly' buy the bmw and still get a top class Panigale for the same money......... But I'm skint so you rich boys do what you want
Thank you for posting that, very interesting. Clearly I'm wrong although I understand that Ducati used a German aerospace company to develop the manufacturing process for the air box. Maybe associated with VAG ? Andy
In fact reading that again, I'd say Bmw have the drop on everyone in regards to producing motorcycle structural carbon at realistic prices. I reckon the hp4 is just the start
Could well be, I don't know anything for certain, I just read stuff and occasionally remember it Still, bmw don't mess about and they have serious clout when it comes to manufacture. You can bet your bottom dollar that they'll be all over carbon development and the quality will be the very best
A discussion for the model devotees to argue about 'till they are blue in the face. The Superleggera 2 will be the last model in an iconic period of Ducati history and something I will mourn. I do however look forward to what delights Ducati will give us in late 2017/early 2018. Andy
