Feeling the need to moan. Sorry!!!!!

  1. After many months of deliberation I finally purchased a motor vehicle. Could not afford a new one so went for a 4 year old with 22k on the clock. Thought to myself it was a good idea to purchase from a main dealer so I get warranties and a little piece of mind in my old age. Vehicle got del and it was amazing a dream come true. 2 days later emission warning light comes on! Ring dealer they come out immediately and rectify the fault. Another 2 days later same fault. Ring dealer who come and collect and issue lone car. Car is returned to me last Monday with sensors being replaced and the assurance that the car has undergone yet another thorough check. Yesterday light back on and me extremely pissed off. Dealer has just picked up car and dropped off loan one. I said to the guy who dropped of the vehicle that he will have driven my car more than I have to which he replied I wouldnt be the first customer who has said that. Can you believe it!!!!!!!

Anyway I fell a little better now so thanks for listening, its been emotional

  3. Vauxhall by any chance?

  4. I despise car dealers with a passion, i've always bought my cars privately, but once i bought a Citroen Saxo VTR from the Main Citroen Dealer in 2000, 1 1/2yrs old, FSH etc. Well 2 months later clutch went at 20K, spoke to Citroen mechanic on the phone who personally replaced it, said clutch pedal wasn't adjusted properly which led to the slipping/wrecked clutch. Funny that, seeing as it had full Citroen service history which includes clutch adjustment at specified intervals. Manager then came on phone, denied mechanic said what he said and i got lumbered with a £465 clutch replacement bill.
Moral of the story is, it doesn't matter if you buy from main dealer, they'll still stitch you up. Best bet is buy private, keep the savings you made over buying from a dealer, and 'if' something goes wrong(which it probably won't) then you've got the funds to cover it.

These cars that dealers have which aren't new are either usually traded in(maybe they have a problem hence trade-in, ie get shot of it quick, then its dealers problem, they sell it, problem rears its head again), or they buy from auction(same thing again, easy way to get shot of ur faulty car, no comeback etc), or u get the genuine people who want to upgrade/downsize etc their car and easy no-fuss way is to trade in.
Or you could buy private, see the owner, suss them out, see how they drive the car, and ask any questions you like about the car and its history, and them offer them a lower price!
Always the way i will buy a car now.

  5. Are you too shy to reveal what make and model it is?

  6. Bets! I recon Citroen!

  7. Ford or Vauxhall..

  8. Vauxhall/GM

  9. Are Vauxhalls that bad? Lol, Last one i had was a Nova 1.3SR so i'm a tad out of touch with them.

  10. Newer diesels seem to have issues with egr valves, dpf, O2 and similar such sensors. As a Saab diesel owner, I have learned through experience...

  11. It can't be any of them. Didn't you see the bit that said

    or where he said

Citroen, Ford & Vauxhall dealers and coming out immediately are alien concepts likewise no way a Ducati owner would describe any of those cars as a dream come true.

    I'm going with...

    Audi

  12. Renault !!!
My parents have had 3 now and a poxy nightmare ..why they keep buying them I don't know!!
They are obsessed with French cars.

I'd buy vauxhall again any day .
If I had money I'd buy another old aircooled VW ... But to own that and a Ducati I'd need a bus pass :(

  13. Folks brought a new Megane ..
Had it two days it went wrong.. The first new car my folks ever owned.

About a week later fireworks night a rocket landed on its roof and dented it ..
Then my dad parked it at work and it got keyed :(
After that coils went , brakes had a fault , and it just went from bad to worse.

They then got a Clio which has cost a bomb!!!
The only family car that's been great is my Mums Smart car.

She wasnt well got out of the car on her drive which is steep left the hand break off the car ploughed through the metal garage door!!!
    Garage door totalled .
Smart car ... Not a mark in it and nothing wrong !

  14. I'm going with Peugeot.

It's gotta be something French

  15. Modern diesels of several makes appear prone to particulate fliter & injector blockages if they don't do many miles. They seem to need a good run on the motorway to get really hot & burn off carbon deposits. Friends with Vauxhalls, Saabs (diesel engines from same source), Audi, VW, Skoda, Seat (again, same engines) & Toyota have all had similar issues to Troy's experience.

  16. My money's on a Merc, absolute bag o shite ...

  17. ooh yes. good shout.
    I'm definitely leaning towards Germany.

  18. Tis a silly game, come on Troy, give it up

  19. The suspense is killing me, I'm having a left field stab at a Porshe.

  20. How dare you?!?!?
To the naughty step, now! And you can stay there until you realise how bad you've been!
