Has anyone had this happen before? Had the panel replaced once already as thought the dealer had damaged it and it's happend again! Can only assume the front tyre catches it?
Seen much worse than that either on here or on the American forum (can't remember exactly where). Doesn't seem to be a universal problem, though. if I recall correctly people say it happens when wheeling the bike about on foot, not when riding it.
Chaps. I had this on my 1299. Moto Rapido sorted it under warranty. Ducati issued new panels and also a spacer kit to stop it happening again. Call Stuart at Moto Rapido, he did mine earlier this year with no fuss.
Thanks for the info. The dealer replaced mine a few months ago but since then my bike has run out of warranty. I assume as i reported the issue under warranty and the fact its happend again a few months later there should be good will. When you say spacer kit, do you mean different wheel spacers? Thanks
No it's a spacer kit of some sort for the fairing panels. My guess is that it swells the panels outward a little to avoid the tyre, but I don't know this. Stuart will help with that info.
It's strange how i've had the bike just over 2 years and its been fine for 18 months or so then happend twice. I've changed the wheels but again they were on a while before it happend
Got it on my brand new 959 second day of ownership, no sure how it happened. Ducati are aware and still waiting for panel to be replaced, as Ducati are investigating the source of the issue. certainly no wheeling for me (can't) and wasn't riding hard, no idea how it happened. Dealer tried to simulate and could achieve through the wheel being on full lock and suspension bottoming out, no recollection as such as was still running bike in, so not really sure how it happened whilst riding.
Well thanks to Rjkc600 i rang and spoke to Moto Rapido who couldn't be more helpful if he tried and has told me that Ducati know about the issue and the fix so i had my bike in yesterday at Ducati Manchester for a service and they have sent a report to Ducati and should get an answer this week on repair
Thread revival but I've just had mine replaced under warranty but Ducati have said there isn't a fix for it.
Ducati told me still no fix, so will wait till the start of next seasons as won't be moving it over the next few months to be honest
Apparently they're working on a fix (doubt it personally) but who knows. I mentioned about spacers and apparently they said they're aware of a few dealers doing this but they do not believe it to be a fix.
My dealer has said when they replace it next month they will "carefully examine the fairing mounts and see if a solution can be found"
I don't get it. Stuart at MR clearly told me they've installed a spacer kit to prevent it happening again, yet now it seems no such thing exists? Unless it was MR's own fix? Either way mine didn't do it again in the following 900 miles before I got rid.
Like I said above mate Ducati have said they're not aware of a fix but know that some dealers are experimenting with spacers and alike They don't believe it resolves the issue
I'm not sure there's an easy fix for that with Spacers. The only way I see you could do it, is by spacing the fairing mounts so it sits back a few mm, but then the panel wouldn't line up somewhere else ? You'd need to completely redesign the panel so it protrudes less around the front radiator
