it's just been announced that the planned panto 'Jack & the Beanstalk' in Birmingham, Bristol, Oldham, Bradford, Burnley, Leicester, Luton and London has had to be cancelled. Apparently the giant couldn't smell any Englishmen
Well after the turmoil on Monday of taking four hours to get to Manchester by car (only 25 miles!!) I left the house this morning at 7am to drive to Greenfield to get a train to Manchester so I could collect my Chinese visa. It was raining when I left and by the time I'd got a third of the way on the Greenfield road it was puking with snow. Half way across and I (along with everyone else) had to turn back as the road was blocked by wagons that had ground to a halt in the snow. I'm now at home waiting for SWMBO to get ready to give me a lift to Huddersfield station so I can continue my mission. Hopefully it'll be easier to get to Beijing next week
Snow? It looks like summer outside my window, lazy day today finally. Got most of my must do urgent tasks behind me or at least with an end in site.. Power restored at work, tender is in for renewing 33% of our funding, planning applications that effect us all dealt with or pending decisions (for now). Nothing more we can do there. Have now cut the floor up (upstairs) in our house to put new (central heating) pipe work in, has turned into a much bigger job than anticipated after trying to fix the dodgy underfloor heating (as was when we bought this house) then trying to use parts of that to get radiators in hard to reach places.. but, it's our boys birthday party tomorrow, then we have plans on Sunday and the Mrs is off work Monday, her birthday.... So It looks like I can today get a hair cut, oh and best buy a card etc too. Might get to do some work on the bikes sometime soon.. As long as I'm starting new year without a load of unresolved issues from this year (which has been a tough one) I'll be happy. Just need to build the BBQ and sort the garden before the good biking weather starts.
Just finished typing that and (thought should I turn my phone off) got told one of the coded locks on a door at work has started playing up which is obviously needed for security, FFS. I was feeling all positive... I'm off to get my haircut bollocks to it. If I go to the gym there is no reception.
You might hate the place. Haven't spoke to anyone that liked it. One guy got out of the airport, went to the hotel, an hour later, back to the airport to get a flight out, he said he couldn't breathe. Hope you enjoy, I'd like to go myself someday.
Yep Manchester is great. We turn on the snow machine around this time of year to keep those troublesome Yorkshire types out. Works a treat!
Finally got the 9.30 train from Huddersfield to Manchester. Got off at Oxford Rd Station. Walked 5 minutes to the Visa Service office. Picked up and paid for said visa which took all of about 1.5 minutes, then 5 minutes walk back to the station. I was back on the train at 11am and home by 12pm. Bollocks to driving there ever again in the shite weather.
edited for you. Whenever I need to go to Manchester city centre, it is always by train. traffic is awful, parking is very expensive (and liable to get some sort of damage to the car in the car parks that seem to be designed for tiny cars only). Enjoy the jolly to Beijing.
Think it was attached the bastard cat that attacked her. Punctured her rectum. Not something you hear every day
It is in badger country! Whilst getting your chinois visa , were you also applying for a Bristol one? Mind you , it's better than the military one I learnt on in Woolwich a few years back. That was nylon washing up brushes glued together - fall over in that and you left your hand behind, detached. Apparently the cribbs mall extension will includes an indoor ski slope. If you didn't know this ,I'll happily accept a business introducers commission of 10% of gross, (but will be negotiated down to 7.5% so you can save face). Mates rates, after all
