New Joiner - Hi

  1. Hi guys.

New joiner living in Westbury Wiltshire, UK.

Forum looks great. Having ridden for 30 years I'm looking to share some knowledge and experience with you all. Have owned a 2007 1098S for the last 2 years. Bike has had 1 previous owner and has a few tasteful mods like full 70mm Termi's and colour coded side panels and air duct covers.

Recently repaired my cracked dash screen with a process I developed myself and posted on another Ducati 1098 forum - fab result and only cost me £54. Have also recently replaced my own belts and do all my own servicing. I employ the JPDiag software to communicate with my ECU, another great success. Recently overhauled the Ohlins front forks, seals and springs and replaced the standard shunt reg rec with a FH020AA MOSFET one after suffering a flickering dash backlight. Jury still out on that one so am just about to fit a volt meter display on the dash to monitor charging circuit.

Was thinking of converting to CREE 2100 Lumen LED dip and main beam headlamp bulbs over the winter and would welcome feedback on whether anyone has done the same. A mate close by with an 1198 has one fitted on his main beam and says it's made a huge improvement over standard or HID upgrade.

Just love my 1098 - fab bike, gorgeous engineering, glorious sound from the unbaffled Termi V-Twin motor. Love it.

    Hi to fellow members,

    Richard.

  5. Indeed, I've done a bit of tinkering in my time mate. Certainly not shy of anything techy - look after Gas Turbines for a living. Can't believe how many 848, 1x98 owners have suffered with cracked screens but end up spending a small mortgage replacing a bit of plastic. Best and cheapest fix I've done on mine and looks factory. Always up for a challenge. R.
