  1. When you have kids you have animals....2 cats (did have 3) 2 rabbits...we did have fish and guinea pigs also....and a couple of African land snails....comes with the territory....having said that I do like cats. 47 now and had cats since I was 20 or so...

  2. With regards to pet insurance....while I say its like any other insurance (a rip off) if the vets bills weren't so high then you wouldn't need the insurance..... But that's just my opinion...years ago one of my cats caught pneumonia, one of his lungs collapsed plus his back legs were were going.... The bill in the end was 1100. This was 20 odd years ago.... Had no problem with that bill at the time as I could see what went into it....he went for another 8 years or so after that.....I reckon the same thing now would probably cost 4k....

  3. Vet bills are actually remarkably cheap considering what they're doing.

  4. I'd argue that....been to the vets enough times in the last 20 years....they used to be expensive, but manageable....now they're stupid....with the current catfs we have one of them was the runt of the litter. We took him to the vets as he was a bit slow and lethargic....that set of drugs cost 150...they said (at the time...5 years ago) he might have some ailment (can't remember what it was) but essentially if he had it he would probably die. Went back the next day to collect the drugs and overnight we decided that if he had this condition then it would be best to have him put down (so, no more drugs). When we got there they were already having a meeting and planning out his treatment and,I might add came up with an initial cost of about 900. We told them there and then we would have the initial set of drugs and see what happens. He was fine after 3 days and now the fucking thing is like a furry rugby ball. Twice the size of the other one and eats anything and everything.

  5. Agreed - my wife took our dog to the vets three months ago as she was limping. The vet charged £65 for looking and giving her a painkiller (the dog not the wife) and asked us to take her back the following day for an X-Ray, which would cost £340.
I looked up the dog's symptoms on Google, decided it was a torn cruciate ligament (rest required for several weeks), and cancelled the X-Ray.
Sure enough, given a few weeks rest, the dog has made a full recovery.

  6. What's ironic is my daughter wants to be a vet so we'll be fleecing you fuckers blind in about 10 years....

  7. My wife arrived back from her driving test today.

"So," I asked excitedly, "how did you get on?"

"Not good," she replied."He failed me!"

"Oh dear!" I said sympathetically."It can't be that bad, what did he pull you up on?"

"A feckin' long rope," she replied.

"The car's still at the bottom of the river

  15. Mrs Birthday today,

Need to check my bank balance... perfume, she said "you don't have to get me all of them."
Really!? I know that's code that I was bound to get wrong. I bought all of them...

I think we will go to an Italian for lunch, not sure about the ones round here, not lived around here long enough and Italian is not my 1st choice but it's her day and she works hard so I will try to compromise.. cheaper than a long weekend in Italy.

I got the award winning (in price range) wifi, dab blah blah stereo for the kitchen too.
She's a good cook and I don't want her to feel lonely in the kitchen before I remove the wall.

I was going to fit an intercom for her birthday. I know, I am such a romantic.

Back to work tomorrow, it's been a good long weekend. The boy had a good (1st invite your friends) party on sat.

  19. 4 min consultation = £36. 0.1hr operation £254. Not sure anyone could ever describe that as 'cheap'. It may well be VFM given training etc they have but never cheap! Cheap is two bricks and a sack...
