just a quick question to see if the exhaust cans off any of the other bikes in the Ducati range (thinking 899 specifically) will fit the 1199? Next bit is does anyone advise against coring the cans myself to remove the CAT & db killer? From what I've read there's not much difference between proper aftermarket cans & coring the std ones, all I want is a bit more noise, not worried about power increase but don't want a drop either, I plan to use a fuel module for correct fuelling.
Thank you. I know after google searches that at least the Termi system for the 1199 is the same as the 899 but I couldn't find info on standard items
All full systems off the 899/1199/1299/959 will fit any of the range, probably the best move for a 1199 is to fit the standard system off the 1299 as the headers are 60mm(899/1199 55mm),60mm is the same diameter as the full akra and termi systems, the exception being the reparto corse headers as they are massive and require removal of the fan housing to fit.
What are you hoping to get from it? Is it just a more cost effective way of getting a better free flowing system? If I was buying again I would just stick with stock exhausts, they are louder than termi's with baffles but as many have said u don't have such issues with noise at tracks just because they are OEM fit, stupid really Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think there are a few people around taking the cats etc out of the standard exhaust. In theory you get more noise, potentially a bit more power (although that isn't always so), with the advantage that they look like standard cans if you want to go on track. Personally, mine is loud and fast enough, and I can think of better ways of spending the money.....
I bought a second hand 1199 exhaust and removed the cat for my 899 for the noise. It's definitely louder and more raspy IMO and I think it registered 105db on a track day noise test so bear that in mind. Straight forward job though
Thank you for your replies guys, sincerely appreciated as a NOOB to the brand, in fact I haven't even collected the bike yet! What I'm aiming for is just some more noise without spending thousands for minimal gains (if any - I've seen some dyno tests to the contrary). The bike will never be on track, if I feel that urge again i'll do what I done before & buy a dedicated track bike, besides, in N Ireland we really have only 1 track we can go to which gets a bit boring so I had to pack a van & do a couple of TD's to make it worthwhile, being married now & having a young daughter I probably won't get that opportunity again but I'm glad I did what I could on track. So, the plan, I've seen 899 stock cans cheaper than the 1199 ones which I was going to buy & remove the CAT & DB killers hence the question. Now worried about power gains & if they turn out offensively loud then so be it!!
If you fancy some great noise. I have an sc project crt end exhaust for sale. £450. Sounds amazing. Looks good too. Easy to fit. Just take the original silencers off. Take the exhaust flapper valve motor off, saves weight. No dash warning lights on the 1199. Photo shows on bike without lower fairings fitted. Sounds like a gp2 bike. Only selling as up grading the bike. Cheers james.
