999 Refurbishment

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by Cream_Revenge, Oct 28, 2016.

  1. Yes mate, came up really well, satin black, bearings just gone in freezer so will attempt to refit at lunch.

  2. New bearings in the rear ok. Slight issue with front, was using the old bearing as a drift as per Del Boys garage and it's bloody stuck fast. Going to leave outside to go bloody cold then heat the wheel and pull with vice grips.

If that fails I'll just have to hit out from the other side and right off a bearing.

  3. sorry?

  4. I put mine in the freeze then lube the seating.

  5. I did for the new but not the old. The old used as a drift is now as a consequence stuck fast. And i'm somewhat irritated. I've walked away.

  6. Heat wheel again and buy yourself a pair of those kitchen grips, the kind they sell for those with arthritic hands to open jar lids. The jaws are wide enough to grip the bearing and might give you enough purchase to twist it out. The metal ones are good as per picture.

  7. So that's the old one sticking out?

  8. Was, got the hump and got it out. 2 new bearing on order again. These Jimmy bars from Aldi are really good for wheel bearing removal.

  9. Just bash the new one in till level.

  10. Really? Then pull it in doing the front wheel up?

  11. Isn't there a spacer ?
    Not sure in followings you.

  12. Doesn't the new bearing sit almost flush with the outside of the hub, that old bearing you've used to knock it in looked to be in quite deep o_O

  13. bearing goes in about 5mm past flush then a seal sits on top of the bering and the seal is flush. A spacer sits inside the seal.

  14. Got ya, I usually manage to find a socket to knock em in with without getting stuck in the ole :)

  17. A bit late now. I was thinking a sky blue one with blue wheels.
But that is probably just because I like light blue.
There was a Triumph that looked something like that.

  18. Power coated clutch cover fitted. Should have got the caps done. Might get the caps done......
