So should sunglasses be illegal because some fool might drive a car (or ride a bike) wearing them at night? Dark visors being illegal is a ridiculous law, obviously wearing one in the dark is wrong and should be illegal but in bright sunshine?... :frown:
Dark and light smoke for daytime, clear with a yellow pinlock insert for dusk and nightime, if only Arai were as easy to switch as my AGV which is for my Blade use. The yellow kills headlight glare and enhances contrast in poor light conditions.
If wearing contact lenses, I wear sunglasses (keeps the cr*p and bricks out of my contact lenses) with a clear visor....... If wearing glasses, I use a clear visor........if the visor is open, then my glasses are reactolite type. If at night and wearing contact lenses, I shut the visor, unless I'm stationary. I decided I don't like drop down sun visors. AL
Flip-down sun visors are the best thing ever to happen to crash helmets. It's about time the posh brands caught up with what is a very sound idea.
Agreed I selected other. Went to buy new lid today and ended up with helmet that has a design that is now 4y old. Do not care, it is quiet, easy visor swap and built in sun visor. Arai had nothing, shoe had nothing, Schubert had an option but it was flip up lid that I do not want. Oh yes my new lid was cheap as it is on sale.
I prefer dark visors. I recently bought a new RX7-GP and I kept the clear visor on for its inaugural outing and wore sun glasses with it. The arms of the sun glasses just dug into the side of my head thus reminding me why I always wore a dark visor before. The next day I ordered a new dark visor.
Arai black visor, that is the only acceptable choice (providing you wear an Arai of course). Clear visors should be permitted only during night time or VERY heavy rain and cloud. /end thread.
i know of at least one person who has lost their life due to the low sun blinding them,i really think they would have survived if wearing a dark visor. they rode into a parked lorry by the way.
I wonder how many people have done the same because they can't see through their dark visors at night...
Quite agree, but only an idiot would plough on regardless if they couldn't see where they were going - day or night. Once again it appears that common sense is becoming a rare commodity.
sorry i do agree but in this situation the rider came around a corner and hit a lorry unloading building material.traffic recon he never even seen it. im not looking to argue im only telling what happened. i ride in a dark visor and many times have had vision impared by a low sun,i really wouldnt ride without it.....ps i carry a clear one in a small rucksack along with my phone etc if you carry keys phone etc in your leathers they can cause lots of damage in an off.
