I've just come back from taking my two eldest grandchildren for their second skiing lesson and then a lovely lunch with sons, their wives, all four grandchildren, brother in law, sister in law and niece. The kids really have taken to skiing! In fact by the end of their second lesson they were doing little hops/jumps coming down the nursery slope. I was almost bursting with pride! Fantastic to see!! And lunch was fab too. Plus I didn't have to pay which is always a bonus
Just got back from this year's Reading Toy Run. My marshall station was at a Pelican crossing on the A329 which was ideal for watching 1745 bikes plus 500 something pillions ride from The Foster Wheeler car park to the Banardo's school in Wokingham. Really successful this year and great weather to boot. Too many bikes to really mention but a very nice 07 749R which definitely did not like 6 mph and a lovely 998s that managed to catch the carbon catch tray on a sleeping policeman. Andy
Went to a party, fell asleep at 10:30 (apparently) woke at 6:30, puked twice, went back to sleep, got driven home around 11:30 to a remarkably calm wife. Went back to bed and got up at 15:30.
You can't win. Last year, for Xmas, I bought the 91 year old mother-in-law, a burial plot . This year she asked me what she was getting and I told her "Nothing - you still haven't used what I bought you last year". And that's when the fight started...
As the Mother-in-Law tucked into sunday lunch today at our place, she noticed the dog at her feet wagging his tail. "Oh look at Rex," she said "is he pleased to see me?" "No Audrey don't pay any attention to him" I said. "He's just a bit pissed off, cos you're eating off his plate."
Gym. That's my daily routine for a while again. And just listened to the worst Elaine Paige rendition ever. Think they need s better drag queen next time
Put up tree and decorations looks really festive. For the first time in many years im looking forward to Christmas.
One tel one, they have another candidate Mon, so may get f-up interview this week. Have been offered a short term training assignment, won't do much for my bank balance or CV but at least its work while I continue to build a network
Chilly walk first thing with the dog, elected to leave pushbike in garage today as lanes very icy, painting the kitchen and utility, flipping fiddley. Not finished, took dog for afternoon walk then spent an hour in the gym. Chinese takeaway for dinner, first for months.
Night away in the smoke detour via Waterlooville for a fireback quick shop in gunwharf - new Zwilling shop could have spent a fortune in there !!
So if you had a fortune, what would you buy ? My weakness is for knives, took me ages to put together as reasonable set of Kai Shun Classic Damascus steel knives. Not sure I'd spend £1700 on the German knife Zwilling are pushing though. Andy
I have a pretty full set of the old global which are ok and one fancy Japanese thing - couldn't justify changing unless I won the lottery! / it was the Staub cookware that had me And the scissors ! Oh and the magnetic trivet
Forget about £1700, I got a few of these and they're amazing. Kitchen Knives | Single Knives and Sets | Zyliss UK
I've gone in to the office today. I may leave again in a bit cos I can't breathe and my head feels like cotton wool :/
Aye you missed a cracking night Terry, I reckon if we collect all the photos & videos from Saturday night we could make our very own Hangover movie happy birthday for yesterday mate it didn't really exist for me
