British Indy: What Happens Now?

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Erm, neither Trump or BT the company had a vote in the Euro in out vote I recall.

Opportunism OF A VOTE has always happened by one side or both

  2. Productivity is falling, resources are limited, demand is increasing, difficult choices need to be made. These are the facts of life.

The socialist view that all it takes is the will to do it is misguided. £500billion of extra "investment" is being proposed by Jezza and John, but then John was advocating armed insurrection not that long ago. It just isn't credible.

  3. Private pensions have been the biggest con ever, finm. Unless you have put £5k per annum in one for most of your working life, they will be worth sweet FA from now on. Will be interesting to see if insurance companies have to pay out a la PPI at some point.

  4. I welcome non of this but it is an inevitable consequence of the crap decisions and policies that have been pursued by the EU since it began.
I have no doubt that those at the top of the EU will argue that an immediate full political and economic/fiscal integration is the only solution to the inevitable crisis.

  5. What has been the biggest con is the belief that each generation in work pays for the previous generation in retirement with every succeeding generation getting increased benefits at a time of falling productivity.

  6. There was new rules in the Eu that Merkel brought in and it stated where banks are in trouble, there should be no financial assistance from the European Union until savers and investers take that hit first

This basically left the Italian banks in dead water trying to swim an ocean.
This has now backfired on Merkel as deustche Bank could be about to face large fines in the U.S. that could see them going with a begging bowl, even though Merkel said no to the Italians

  7. finm. the vast majority for things you find issue with with respect to Brexit - for brevity, i will call them "fat cat issues" but they aren't limited to that - would still be problems if we were to remain in the EU. Try this for size:

    1. Britain outside of EU: UK Rich getting richer, downward pressure on UK wages, failing infrastructure, loss of NHS, et al.

    2. Britain remains in EU: Unconstrained immigration, failed trading model, Eurocrats feeding off the EU gravy train at UK's expense, non-British politicians over whom we have no democratic control deciding the future of Britain and, oh yeah - see 1. above. All of that too.

Remember that final bit; I'll say it again. In the EU, all the problems you see as affecting post-Brexit Britain would still happen but we also get bent over by Eurocrats, too. Double prizes.

Do you no see it, lad?

  8. yip, i get it all. not ideal but hay. pros and cons loz pros and cons. and again, time to come clean isnt it?. you or anybody else didnt vote in the best interest of the uk as a whole any more than i did.
all we have done is swap one bunch for another but now the other has MORE power. and nope. you cant vote them out you can only swap em for a different shade of blue. remember the GERS figures, thats our figures within the uk. we dont and cant borrow money. thats the priority westminster since the day dot has given us.
i dont give a damn about the pressure on the south east anymore than you give a damn about northern priorities. we along with wales N.I do quite well out of the EU. now we are gonna have to go with the begging bowl again and again and again just to stand still. farage.nuttle says he is gonna cut barrnet. wtf?

the msm will jump on it, the knuckle dragers will demand it,
    fucking wonderful.
like it or not most of our winging comes from how EU membership was used as a big stick during indi, along with plenty of other promises. but meh, politicians lie suck it up they say.
there has to be another indi reff without any last minute purda braking promises made nor broken if you want this settled for a generation. preferably after the march 2019. then people will really know what they are voting for.

  9. In many ways I view immigration figures as a guide not only to the numbers but also a trip advisor type ratings on the countries people are leaving and the countries people are leaving.

Migration Watch UK | MW354 : The British in Europe – and Vice Versa

The U.K. has always been known to be a half in half out E.U. country, we have been Known since the summer as the country that is about to leave the E.U.

I do get fed up of U.K. born citizens putting it down, it's not perfect by any means but when you look at immigration, flows need to be taken in to see the true side of who we are and the real picture of how others view us.

The Poles are always a good example, 35,000 U.K. citizens have emigrated to Poland. 883,000 Poles have emigrated to the U.K. Bulgarians who have emigrated to the U.K. is 77,000 but U.K. to Bulgaria 5,000.

I can see what you're thinking, it's just the poor countries but Germany, 297,000 Germans have emigrated to the U.K. where as only 103,000 Brits have Emigrated to Germany. 26,000 Austrians to the U.K. but only 11,000 Brits to Austria.

My point in all this, if Europe is such a good place and Britain is an anti European bad country, then why do we have 3 times more Europeans coming to us than us going to them?

Britain has more going for it than some in here like to admit, even Europeans recognise that, even if the European council so not want to publicly agree

  10. I think most people who vote do so as to what fit's their need/expectation and as such most do vote to make it more about we than me

This has always been the way in all democracies that allow democratic and non fixed elections, to suggest it's only now a thing, would be wrong.

Is that what you meant when you said you are voting for you instead of we? I would point out with the above, you gained those monies as part of the United Kingdom and not as individual countries. You already have a working agreement within the U.K. but despite your inference, the only begging bowl you would have to submit would be as a newly accepted country to the EU and NOT to the U.K.

    .

I would disagree, Most of the whinging up north was from nationalists who kept going on about the Tory (not UK) government and how bad they were towards Scotland whilst comfortably ignoring the good that was recieved by the actions of a U.K. government.

Part of me feels there should be another one if for no other reason than to shut the loudest minority up, that being the SNP but they can't be trusted given we have already seen a generation is Scotland appears to be 2 years

Until the Brexit terms are known which I suspect will be fully known once a deal is agreed to put forward by both sides to their own governments, then what will be the benefit of another independence vote, how will you know whether it would be a good deal for Scotland or a bad deal? How will you negotiate with the EU if you are still unsure where you stand with the U.K.

Much of Helmet heads rhetoric is little more than keeping her and the SNP's visibility high whilst even they know, nothing can be done for at least 2 years.

  12. wrong wrong wrong and wrong all wrong, and round and round you/we go again. pointless, time consuming and does nothing bar show the differences in social attitudes and priorities between us.

    • Love You Love You x 1
  13. My point is, that there are very few differences between us, yours is , that there are

  14. maybe not,
we are all ruled from Westminster, labours probably finished
your only alternative vote is ukip. no thanks.
we have a viable alternative that has enviable support despite the best actions of our msm. wich has prooven over and over what you can do despite an overall budget cut of 10% that seeks to unit not divide.. you will probably tell me otherwise, but hayho.

  15. Everyone has had cut backs but when you have it, then it's that damn tory Westminster government, but when we have it, it's cuts.

In someways it's far too easy to blame government because it shows a lack of clarity and honesty amongst voters. We are living longer, have beat many previously fatal and disibilitating diseases for both young and old and that requires more money than we are prepared to put in. I mention this because our NHS is like our politics, people have expected too much without putting anything in themselves and I don't just mean money.

We get the government we deserve and for far too long people have been happy to not be involved for no other reason they can moan about it later rather than change a system that needs changing because that requires a direct input.

By saying you have a viable alternative I suspect you mean the SNP? I would say you do not, you have in Scotland what we have in England, a largely one party government, how is that a choice?

  16. we have a choice. we have probably more choice due to PR. although ours was set up specifically to reduce the chances of a majority government the dehont system doesnt work to well when there arnt even numbers of constituency and regional (list) votes. it just so happens the majority voted for the government that we have. and not the 37% The torys like to call a majority. most of tory/lab/lib got in through the back door list vote. rooth the mooth had to change constituencies to get a seat. and did worse than magie when she was in power.
but, in some respect your right. its starting to look like a two party state, national v's unionist.

  17. is the country living outside its means or is is that the wealthiest don't pay their fair share? Look at the number of companies that move their profits abroad to avoid paying tax on U.K. Earned profits? Look at the number of offshore companies used to avoid paying U.K. Earned income on properties and investments. I wonder how much that costs the country? Far more than some like to think Scotland does I bet.

  18. :Wideyed::Wtf: .
. no no no no. :Hilarious::smileys:.

  19. For the record, I believe in social security and benefits to those in need and prepared to also try and help themselves.

But unfortunately that's not the way it is currently, unless it's changed over the last 3 years. When I needed help having lost my job I wasn't given anything, nothing of help in regards to my rent or a realistic amount to pay gas, electricity and food for the family.

Apparently I had earned too much over the course of the previous year's and so it was expected I had spare money. Nothing to do with the fact my out goings were higher, nothing to do with the fact I've paid substantial taxes for years, I had to fight tooth and nail for even the smallest of aid.

By the time I'd gotten anywhere I was luckily back in work, but what if it hadn't gone that way?

My mum who's late 70's couldn't get any state aid for help with a boiler repair, you know why?

Because my late father, who died when I was a young boy, had a life insurance policy and my mum never claimed any benefits. She worked all her life in education helping special needs children through mainstream schools. She paid all her tax and never asked for a handout.

When it came to actually needing a little help, even to be considered for a special energy type assistance grant when her boiler broke last winter, she was told she couldn't get any help because she wasn't claiming benefits.

So to get something just once, she was knocked back because she'd never claimed before. Who in the fuck came up with that gem of an idea?

So yep, I agree with benefits.

I agree with benefits for those that pay in first and foremost, or at least those who try bloody hard to pay in. Those that sit on their fat crack or expect everything for nothing....well, I don't think I need to spell that one out :)

  20. hear yah. i have a wee giggle when i am accused of being a lefty. i believe in no dole for those that refuse to work. (terms and conditions apply)
my last experience with the brew after pretty much full employment. i had been unemployed for about 3-4 weeks when i had decided to go self employed, checked out a unit, decided to take it. on the way back i popped in to the job center to sign off. so there i am in a Que with the usual suspects in front with there mates outside with the carry out. sign on the line and of they went. it comes to my turn, tell the lady behind the desk. i want to sign off. she wasn't interested, wanted to know why my nails where dirty? wtf? been in workshops since i was eight and she wants to know why my fecking nails are dirty? started giving me the third degree in front of everybody. needless to say security was called. needless to say security got called a lot off things. that doesn't include my initial signing on experience, after some confusion where i should of been signing on (lochaber or argyll) i heard some young punk behind a curtain suggesting to his workmate to tell me to "fuck off" back up to fortbill? i know who he is, i will get my revenge.
same for my disabled sister. a primary school teacher doesn't qualify for mobility allowance, but like many genuinely disabled, they find a way to not be disabled. yet every dealership i worked in sold motabilty cars by the dozen?.
that is the modern and progressive way of dealing with the scroungers. attack the worthy, give up on the less deserving.
and like yourself as a child after a death in the family, from private school to destitute. almost homeless. me mother got nothing.bar a DHHS snooper hiding in the bushes.we thought he was a peeping tom and a proper kicking was organized and delivered. it's not nice.
