Sev you've made some very good points there.. The weid thing is I've checked the cars out and so far they are all taxed! It's not permit only parking either.. He's smart! I've found out he doesn't live at the house where they are parked outside, the house is his parents home.. What really pees me off is the tax free readies he's on.. How if he's not a registered trader is he getting away with buying so many cars through auction ... It must flag up somewhere.. You get a small business late with its tax returns and they are on to you in an instance, yet here, they just don't seem to care..
Are you sure they are taxed ?? Just because it comes up on the website doesn't mean they are taxed , especially if the vehicles have changed hands.
With respect to tax, I believe that HMRC tend to keep an eye on trends in "private" vehicle selling ads, i.e. if a same number comes up more than say 4 times in a year, they will look into it in case they are missing out on having their piece of the pie. or that is what an old friend told me. He doesn't necessarily need to have a full on registered business, but can be a private trader who fills out his annual tax returns showing income, expenditure, etc. What is unfair, is (a) the unsightliness of it, (b) the fact that legit traders are having to fork out for land/storage/rent/rates, etc Best bet would be to get organised with your neighbours and annoy the life out of the council (they will also be missing out on business rates on potential premises/land he should be using), send photos and phone numbers to HMRC so that if he isn't legit, he will soon be found out, send photos and information to DVLA about unregistered vehicles (they will know for certain, and probably be glad to collect some free fines based on your hard work). Good luck.
Many true words.. As far as I know he dosent advertise, they just sit there on pavement etc with a note in the car window with mobile tel num.. He obv has a few mobile numbers though.. I ain't gonna give up!
I had a similar set up round the corner from where I used to live. With old, mainly untaxed, cars parked all over the place it was hard for the residents to find somewhere to park. I also complained to the police but nothing was done. Then one night their premises mysteriously burnt down!
Yeah! I had a couple of uncles who were very handy for sorting things out if someone was upto no good .. Sadly gone now.. Uncle Ronnie and Reg....
Ahh! Let the guy make a few quid,it's hard enough trying to make a living,if he was sitting on benefits dealing drugs, you'd probably be gurning as well, live and let live!
Make a few quid! Try 50 grand a year on top of his benefits while you I and many others fund him? theres thousands of homeless people out on our streets at night many through no fault of their own unable to find council housing while low life's like him rip people off make a lot of money and sit in council property which we the tax payer provide for him...get real!
A quick look through this meandering story turns up the following phrases; He must have We reckon He's probably We have estimated We think I'm told Apparently As far as I know It's hardly a solid basis for the authorities to take action is it? :Wacky:
If the house is rented contact the landlord and tell him about the anti social behaviour and it's his job to do something about it
