smell of petrol

  1. Finally got my bike run in but I started noticing a smell of fuel in my garage after being out on a thrash this is the normal Ducati trait or should I be getting it looked at ?

  2. Not normal i'd say. The exhaust can smell of fuel but not raw petrol.

  3. Did you fill the tank right up recently or on the way home from a run? Some of the newer Duc's like to have a little air gap in the tank and if they don't, they create one all by themselves via the breather pipe...mine loves doing it. Just don't overfill....assuming that is the case :)

  4. Ess-esses tend to stink a bit....the slightest change in atmos pressure and the tank breather lets out little squeaky farts and the flame trap boxes on the left side always stink of petrol.

  6. Best way to see if you have a petrol leak is to strike a match . Takes seconds to give you an answer

  7. I remember performance bikes way back in the day saying ducatis always make the garage smell of petrol. That was back in carby SS / 851 days. (I'm not ancient, I just used to buy bike mags with my pocket money when I was 12 years old!!)

  8. What was the diagnosis, Rich?

  9. Nothing much they just said that's how Ducati are ! gonna keep a check on it

  10. I've had a similar problem and posted a thread on this site. Apparently it's normal so don't worry just enjoy the fumes. Mines being like it for months, nothing leaking just the smell. It's normal
