HMV have a 10" Yarvik Luna Android tablet in now for £129....supposed to be half price. I've had a Yarvik tablet and for a 'generic' device it was great.....I did root it and install the play store for my apps tho
I honestly do not understand what problem you are having. When new apple devices shows up on sale it takes a bit of time to show up in average high street store so why hold it against anyone else? Granted Apple got good ad delivering them quick for average store sale. You want them from Apple ASAP you wait in line for days before release date or do a smart move of pre-ordering online from Apple store. Ipads are built by Aapple you get them from Apple store, surface is built by MS you get it from MS store. You also have a choice of host of other devices running new Win8 for example Samsung Ativ, Asus vivo or Asus RT.
I don't have a problem.....mearly stating fact (the same as you), that I couldn't buy one when I tried.....I'm not holding it against anyone.....it's not my loss, I was buying it as a gift for a child..... The other like a golf, but not a golf brands just won't cut it with kids who want a specific item, regardless which is technically better. But again...the same reply as last time you got on your technology high horse, you pays your money and takes your pick.
I use the blackberry play book! It's ideal, I travel all over the world with my work (off to India on Sunday) so this fits my need perfectly. I have books from the Kobo store, music, videos, games etc.....also a good camera and fantastic HD video. I use it more when travelling for storing documents, word, excel, powerpoint etc. So for a 9 year old you can't go wrong, the cost is now about £129 for. 64gb wifi version (dixons, comet). For that money, its great! They are far more robust than most other tablets with good battery life (9hrs). There is now quite a good offering of games and the Web browser is very quick to connect, BBC iplayer, etc. Definitely recommend......
Yes Surface is our general discussion however I have win 8 on older Acer slate. Since release of windows phone 7 there is Microsoft store, first off all it was apps for phones, then Microsoft branded phones and link's to other manufacturers offering wp7 phones, then win 8 came along which can run small apps in metro so online version for apps for wp8, Win8 and xbox. Now as surface was officially lunched they also offer it via same store. We are talking online store not brick and water one.
If you dont want to be restricted by an operating system then go for the Samsung Galaxy10.1. I'm sitting by the pool in Mexico on mine now . If your son wants to play Minecraft on a tablet then I am told by my 14 year old that the mobile version is "crap". The xbox version is the one he will play . plenty of apps now available for Android tabs. While I dont use mine for office work it is great for watching films etc. I think I'm correct in saying that the Galaxy has a screen size more suited to the format of films etc as it is slightly longer and less wide than the ipod.
It will do as you're running full Excel on full Windows. You can't do the same on the Surface, hence my comment.
He I never wanted RT but want full one so never had a closer look. MS is neither confirming nor denying.
Is the battery replaceable on the Kindle Fire? The original Kindle, I believe, has an integrated battery which means, when the battery is dead, so is the Kindle. Cheers.
