What's Planned For 2017?

Discussion in 'Touring' started by bradders, Nov 27, 2016.

  1. Looking at racing in Thundersport UK next year but going to play the rounds by ear as quite frankly we like to be in the sun in europe :) We've also been trying to move out to Barcelona if I can sort things with work.

We're looking at a big Italian road trip to Mugello and probably Misano in 2017. Mugello is the track I most want to visit at the moment.

I've got some three day euro track trips booked up with Pacedayz because they will have a bunch of the BSB and other racers testing so I know I'll have a good tow to learn to ride better and faster. They always get full up so booked them early:

    Calafat in February
    Jerez in march
Cartegena nights in June (thats the summer holiday, nice hotel, five hours open pit lane starts at 1700hrs each afternoon :) )
    Alcarras in October

Bradders - not sure if it would fit in but if you're getting out on the enduros I might be game for some fun?

  2. You won't drop the bike @Kirky . An experienced, thoughtful, highly competent rider such as yourself has nothing to fear from a trackday.

  3. I certainly will. Not been myself either, it's 3 days at Slovakiaring 2 days off then 3 days at Brno. Should be a good gig, loads to see and do in the down time. Gonna drive over with the Mrs. and have a driving holibobs. Looking forward to it.

  7. BBS Eurotracks who are local to me in Wokingham. Costs about half as much again as FE and NL but you get an extra night in a good hotel, 45 riders max and full support. Did Jerez with them in September and had a great time, good selection of bikes and abilities and plenty of respect for other riders. Secure palletised transport, we arrived for day 1 to find the bikes laid out on stands with our kit unpacked and lined up in a garage. Free tea, coffee and bottled water for both days plus the local hostelry setting up a special meal both days. Hoping to do Cartegena in October with them. Andy

  8. Manx end of august
    Moto GP Catalonia

  9. We'll see you there, if we can find you in amongst the other 99,997 people likely to be there on the day. We are staying in Barcelona for the race and a long weekend (Thursday to Tuesday). Andy

  10. ..booked my virgin galactic seat... some of us are born to be space-men even if most certainly earth bound!

  11. So you are looking to tag on the back of some BSB boys who are testing 220+ Bhp bikes, I suspect the only thing you will learn from that experience is the taste of Spanish hospital food is not all its cracked up to be.

  12. The instructors are mostly from BSB or other series plus there are only ever thirty people maximum on track. I spent a day at Portimao being towed around by Peter Hickman and @Sam1199S did two days with Michael Laverty.

  13. How much was the 1-2-1 instruction ? Neil Hodgson charges £170 per day.

  14. I can't remember to be honest, I'll check with Sam but I think it was a bit more than that. In general Pacedayz are more expensive than other trackday companies but in my opinion it's worthwhile for such low numbers on track plus we have a very good gang that always use them which makes the trip a lot of fun. That said you nearly always get really low numbers on track after a couple of days of a euro trip because everyone is either completely knackered or hung over :)

  15. Just checked. It's a fair bit more, £170 for half a day, £300 for a whole day with the BSB guys. You get a free session with the other instructors the same as with nolimits, etc. I guess it depends what you are looking for whether it would be worth your while from that side of things. I think @Sam1199S had hired Michael Laverty to stay in his bed and read him racing stories but I like to get more laps in on my own.

  16. That's still not too bad. I was looking at a day with Simon Crafar and it was a good chunk more. I decided to continue with my amazingly shite pace. Still fun though, he he he...

  17. Mike Dickenson does 1:4 tuition on NL and other Spanish dates, IIRC £150 per rider.

  19. My old man is going to teach me to spray. I'll then do the current tank/fairing OEM yellow. I'll take what I learn and do the spare set how I want and keep the original set wrapped and safe till it's time to put her back to OEM then when I'm old I'll pass to my son as "the bike your dad and grandad fixed up". He'll probably sell it and go to Vegas.

  20. Bike related so far:imp:
