Farage was entirely correct. The mass influx of Islamic migrants and the soaring incidents of terrorism which will now become commonplace across mainland Europe as a result not only happened on Merkel's watch but were facilitated and encouraged by ill-conceived and panicked policy-making on her part. When she could have moved to lessen a crisis she chose to compound it, and it is also likely to be the final straw that breaks the back of the European Project and brings it to a disorderly end. Of course it will be her legacy. She won't be responsible or in any way complicit in future acts of terrorism and it would be repugnant to suggest such a thing, which no-one has; but she will be remembered for a terrible error of judgement which will threaten the peace and safety of Europeans for decades to come.
think i will leave this here, just in case anybody had forgotten, (unlikely with posts like these, but you never know) The alt-right aren't champions of freedom. They are champions of insensitivity, ignorance and hate. They aren't rebels, they are wankers.
Hardly leaving it, by going on to make your statement. Why didn't you just type "think i will leave this here" and stop?
If stating the blindingly obvious in the hope people will finally sit up, stop hiding what is going on and then hopefully deal with it so we can stop the bad things happening again and again is what you call alt right, then perhaps most people who want peace could be called alt right.?
Some people will say what they really feel, some people will hide what they really feel. Whatever , or whoever was ultimately responsible for the recent German atrocities (ISIS now claiming) I would say Merkel is starting to sound like she's changing her tune especially in the run up to elections, which is frankly too little too late. After Berlin, Angela Merkel’s open door to migrants might slam shut | Josef Joffe | Opinion | The Guardian Not all refugees or immigrants are a danger, not even close to 99.999999% are. But the manner in which she effectively flung open the doors of Europe without any regard to her countrymen or surrounding nations thoughts or feelings was idiotic at best.... Germany has had a few more lower scale 'issues' over the last couple of years, some documented in the BBC link and where some have lost their lives. Germany attacks: What is going on? - BBC News in regards to immigrants and refugees you will always have people in need, and I hope we continue to help those genuinely in need and welcome those who genuinely have something to offer. But life isn't as rosey and idealistic as it should be, thats just the cold light of reality, and so sound sensible checks and balances should be in place when letting anybody in your country. So far the UK security services have obviously done an amazing job, and God help them continue. But it's coming, don't kid yourselves, we're due an attack and I just hope to god none of you or people you love are caught up in it. Merkels policy was ridiculously naive, dangerous, and I'm afraid if I was a family member of any of the people killed in Germany this last year, I'd be holding her responsible.
Criminals will do what they intend to do regardless of how you try and stop them. A few border checks will make fuck all difference. Are they going to ask them if they intend to come here to commit a terrorist act at the border? Its the underlying causes that need to be addressed - a world where the rich get richer at any cost, quite often using death and destruction to achieve it, where greed and avarice and material possessions are the judge of good and bad, politicians using hate and division to gain and retain power, a world that is constantly at each others throats and will most likely eventually destroy itself as a result.
Merkel is nothing more than a criminal and should be tried for crimes against the people of Europe. The 1st responsibility of a leader of a country should be the protection of its citizens.
Unfortunately Tel, some that want to try and protect their country and citizens are shouted down as racist, without the remotest hint of this being so.
I have to disagree. No politician is remotely interested in the proletariat. They are only interested in themselves. Fact.
Well, that's just plain wrong. If you had said "most", then you may have had a point. But believe it or not, there some decent politicians.
All fine in principle, but in reality it's nothing more than sticking ones head in the sand. Allowing somebody to come in to your country should consist of more than a border check. If no background is available on the person, and in many of the refugee cases it wasn't, then something else needs drawing up. Whether it's a half way house detention centre or what I don't know, but simply waving people through from known Islamic terrorist hotspots is just nativity of the highest order. You're right, you can't stop everything, it's impossible. But equally there was no reason to fling open the borders of Germany to all those who could make the journey. She let in 800,000 people, and that's just the documented ones. I think it's safe to say it's probably over 1m. That's not manageable, it did nothing to dissuade more genuine refugees from attempting ocean crossings and losing more innocent life's, it did nothing for Greece. It was a selfish act on her behalf, which is ironic as she professed it was completely the opposite. We do need to sort out the causes, you're bang on about that. But that takes more courage and doing things that many liberal people don't like, Sound bites don't solve these issues, actions do.
Sound bites don't solve these issues, actions do. I guarantee that if you make it harder for all people to get into the UK then this country will become a bigger target for terrorists with worse atrocities.
I'm sure any name that I post will be picked apart for some minor indiscretion, such is the price for a life in the spotlight. Not with us any longer and certainly not meant to be distasteful, but from what the media has said, Jo Cox was a latter day saint. In what way was she only interested in herself?
I know/knew very little about her even though she was a MP local to where I live (I was due to meet her as she was going to speak to a business group I'm a member of just a week after she was murdered) so cannot really make a judgement/comment. I suspect you know very little about her too to make a valued comment.
