It's a carbon fairing. The "eyes" are exposed carbon. This part is currently for sale BTW. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Did you remove the front fairing or do it on the bike? I was thinking of doing this but can't be arsed taking the nose cone off - my mate did his multistrada which didn't need to come off but that didn't have a screen
dont ever take the nose cone off unless you have too. Even the dealers cant put them back right. Its crypton factor x19.3 Panigales arent built like bikes of old, and theres so many hidden clips and slides, they are like car dashboards! No obvious fixings to be seen!
I'll second that! Just put my nose cone on and it's a real pain in the arse. Took me ages to get it lined up correctly
CDT Fullsix. Had it professionally painted by Paint Supremacy in Lincoln. It's a lovely piece. More info here: Ricambi Moto Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Invest in a workshop manual. Taking the nose off is not that tricky. You just need to know how. All too often people attempt it and end up breaking off lugs or fairing tabs as a result of not checking methods first. The two weak points are the air duct covers which if forced off will break the slotted tabs on the upper fairings and or those on the nose cone or forcing the front central nose lug out of the light where it fits over it. Spraying silicone lubricant in using a thin tube makes it a doddle to persuade the nose to come away cleanly. Above all take your time and if it won't budge then you have most likely overlooked a fastener. There are total of 7 to remove plus the underside panel to be able to access one of them. oh I see, just the top fairing? very nice. how much are you looking for?are you putting the original one back on?
Ok thanks. Read some horror stories from People losing the bottom2 well nuts but also read later bikes had them glued in from the factory... Will have a go anyway
Not quite. IMHO you won't be able to pull the fairing out far enough without potentially damaging it. You might but why risk it? Why not just take the whole thing off? Aside from the mirrors (which incidentally are the fiddliest part of the job, especially when it come to re-mounting them), you will need to have first removed the air duct covers (take care not to force them as you will break the slotted tabs on the nose and/or upper side fairings. This allows you access to the two bolts that pass through the stay, headlight and then into the nose fairing. These two will need removing. Underneath, remove the plastic panel by removing the central underside bolt and the four side clips attaching the panel to the radiator shroud. Spray some silicone lubricant into the gap under the front central lip of the nose just where it sits between the two headlights. The idea is to soak the rubber grommet in the headlight with enough lubricant to allow you to GENTLY prise the nose lug (which is moulded into the nose fairing) out. Once it starts to come away, then you can pull the whole nose fairing forwards and clear of the bike. Do NOT force any of the fasteners, lugs etc as you will end up breaking them. It sounds a mare but it's really not that difficult. Just be patient. As I may have mentioned before. Always worth having a copy of this to hand, so you can get to know your bike better: Workshop Manuals
Regarding the nose just leave it on you have plenty of flex to get your fingers in for the last 2 rubber fixings the wife came in handy took about 5 min
Cheers for that I've had the mirrors and the side trim panels off before so that's no problem. I think it would be easier to apply the sticker with the fairing off anyway as I could do it inside the house on a bench in the warm I'll have a look and if it's do-able on the bike then great but if not I'll just take the nose off
